Well, I hope that I never snare or root myself, but from all the comments read, it seems as though it is almost inevitable.

By the by, I read the comics and got a good laugh, are new ones added weekly, bi-weekly? Does any one have an idea, as I would like to bookmark it.

    Thanks.

You know rooting your self is bad enough...
But when a clicky root item things can get worse!

While doing my Tunare Warden symbol quest I learned to hate Equestrielle the corrupted in Lesser Feydark. She was introduced while I was trying to finish the courier part of the 2nd symbol quest. So upon attaining lvl 40 and feeling very twinked as a druid with my clicky root (that had saved my wood elf backside many atime and let me solo things I normally couldn't) I figured I would use it on Equestrielle for payback.

Tracked her down, took the harmtouch I was expecting and in a panic rooted her, again, again, and again and then applied the dots...and then tried to backup. I had just finished casting a buff on myself when I found her and forgot to target her before the battle started. What surprised me was I lived long enough to try casting gate twice (interrupted of course) while taking a 401 harmtouch, being beat down by a lvl 40 sk, and watching my own dots trying to compete with Equestrielle for which would kill me first while I was rooted.

I had originally planned that if the battle didn't go well, I could always outrun her in wolf form.

There's no rhyme or reason to the updates on the sights, but the artist of the comics tries to do 2 comics a week.

Yep seems like at least a strip a week and often two - never have been able to figure out the best day to check though. (Sometimes there is a skipped week or two.)

I am trying to think of spells I haven't accidentally cast on myself - have rooted, dot'd, dd'd, snared, debuffed, dispelled,.... Usually happens when I am healing myself in the middle of something and I forget to switch back. Rooting myself next to a blue KoS Mob is my most common trick after casting the wrong port spell or using a ring instead of a circle. Luckily I haven't dragged my necro friend to Surefall instead of Stonebrunt by accident. I also have this stupid mistake of thinking I am camoflauged when it is actually see invisible. That doesn't work too well.

Rooting yourself and dying may become a thing of the past once you get to level 59... well, not for the self-rooting warrior I'm afraid.

Get yourself the AA skill Exodus. It does wonders. Instant egress to a safe spot. Once you get real good, you should be able to do the following in under 10 seconds.

            Target self for buff.
            Buff self.
Forget to target mob for root.
            Root self.
            Say '****'.
            Hit Exodus hot key.

              Erm...

I think Exodus is only for wizards and druids. Not much good for the rest of us.

As if they'd give hybrids anything remotely resembling one of the most useful 2nd tier spells for "real" casting classes.

                Huh?

                Other classes?

Ohhh, you mean we are supposed to acknowledge their existance... ok.

That got really old really fast on my ranger - why do you think I made the bard?

Coincidentally, the ranger is 18 and stripped naked, and the bard is 55.

Oh lord. How many of my deaths were due to forgetting to retarget my quarry after a heal?

I can think of 3, at least; just in the last month. Or seeing snare and thinking it was SoE right as my unsnared charmed friend wakes up and decides he doesn't like me anymore..

My friends have started telling me I die like a ranger.

Stuff like that is why I've developed a "tactic" to handle it. As a Ranger, I tend to be either the 3rd tank or the only one (Lots of casters in my guild), if we are doing a raid I'm usually #3 or lower. When I am, I pay close attention to the druid/cleric's messages about crowd control. Once they root an add, I turn and hit it with a tangling weeds and a root myself (neither overrides, but I build agro). I'm off the main target for 2-3 melee cycles so it helps me to maintain a lower agro on the main target and I almost always put myself above the druid/cleric's agro on the add. Root breaks and the add moves towards me, not the caster. I have better armor and HP and if it hits me a couple of times, it's not going to interrupt the caster's re-rooting attempt. I have no idea how well this would work at the high end, but it's served us well to level 40 so far.

As a warrior, I don't have any amusing death stories that involve accidentally snaring or slowing myself, etc.

                            But...

The other night, I was hunting griffs in Jaggedpine with some guildmates. I'm 56th level, so I can solo any of the griffs without problem. I can even take on 2 or 3 of the griffawns at once without significant worry. But the griffons are a bit tougher and put up quite a tussle. I couldn't survive a fight with more than one.

The person pulling was a 44th level Beastlord who was just being nice and helping me out and getting a little XP (the MOBs were dark blue or even to him). He was pulling because he wasn't aggro to the bears and wolves and stuff.

The other person in the group is a 54th level Enchanter.

I tell Phuz (the BST) "Go pull us more than one griff at once."

                            Minutes pass.

He comes back with four griffons hot on his tail.

Now, I couldn't tank 4 griffons by myself for very long, and I'm a 56th level warrior. Our 44th level BST was getting owned. The enchanter was struggling to mezz all the MOBs before it was too late, but she didn't have an AOE mezz up, and was having a hard time targeting the individual critters in the mess of melee.

So I leap up to Phuz and manage to target him and type /shield. And IN THE NICK OF TIME, I start taking the beats for him.

                            12 anxious seconds pass.

                            My /shield effect goes away.

Miraculously, all the griffs are mezzed. But Phuz is collapsed on a heap on the ground. BUT HE'S NOT DEAD! HE'S ALIVE! Just unconscious, at -3 HP.

I hug my /shield effect. I look at the mezzed griffs. I look at the still living Phuz. I heave a sigh of relief. I whip out a bandage and slap a Bind Wounds on the overgrown kitten.

I heal him back to positive health.

                            He stands up.

He still has auto attack on.

He whacks a griff. And wakes it up. And it kills him.

                            /sigh

(Of course, it's funny NOW... )

And such a CLASSIC example of "you get what you pay for..." I hope you razzed him about it for the next hour. I know I would be expecting it if it happened to me. I can ASSURE you I would NOT have been thinking the auto attack was still on. NOW I would though...

Congrats too on the quick thinking Rutaha. In my guild, that would have gotten him the RIP award (Awarded for bravery, but not success in battle) and you would have become a member of the Butt Sling Brigade (Awarded to those who SOMEHOW manage to turn a very bad fight around.)
