  • SPIRIT OF Garz quest!!!

Dang thing eat up about 6 months of my life! Getting groups together to get tiny items from mobs that do not do anything for anyone else. Sinking money and time into this at a skill of 205 finally getting all the items together except the HS piece just to fail on one combine of the blade?!? I now have to start this pain over AGAIN! why OHHHH why is there not a NO Fail limit to the lower than your skill items?!?

Why is it that something that was Non-skill up worthy at 180? This leads down a darker path still... Why is it that I can and DO fail at making metal bits some times? But I digress... This Quest HAS to be the WORST Velious quest EVER, I mean Even on the Ring and Shawl quests you get SOMETHING back if you fail a combine SO WHY SOE WHY must you cause me this PAIN?

My Self imposed goal has been and continues to be to have armor and weapons that I have made MYSELF! I am already in 90% Blessed Full Mithrial but This weapon would have been a HUGE Boon to me and my goal, Currently I have to settle (Never thought I would say settle about this weapon) for my BA Halbred when I want to have all items I made in visible slots. This SHould be fixed....

    Ahhh I feel better.

Yuck, that really bites. I'm planning on doing this quest myself, just to say I did it. I really hope this doesn't happen when I go to do my combines.

I'm on the final battle of the Garzicor quest. Heres my experience:
I didnt fail any combines. Yay!
Grundo takes forever to camp. BAD GRUNDO! No biscuit.
The HS piece can be done solo. Thats right. You just need, um luck.
      1. Get a spirit of eagle.
      2. Get a c3.
      3. Get a thurg gate potion.
      4. Zone into HS and dont move.
      5. Pacify the two wanderers.
      6. Pacify the golems in either the south or north wing.
      7. Pacify the golems in the east wing.
      8. IVU.
      9. Climb on top of the lantern on whichever side you pacified the golems.
      10. Look straight up and run over to the east wing.
      11. Open the door (its not locked, but the stairs are false) and go through the picture of VS
      12. Reapply IVU and, facing the only way you can go... follow the passage, watch out for the rugs (which might be pits) take the right turn when able and just run. You will eventually get to where the mandala spawns.
      13. Grab it and run the way you came until you reach the one way VS picture. Thurg gate out.
      14. Party.

Sorry you failed :/. Good luck on finishing the quest!

I know your pain...when I did my Pitted Iron Ring combines, I questioned why I was doing that quest myself many times over.

First, I failed a few times on the subcombines, and my guildmates and friends were getting quite impatient with me dragging them to OT, HS, and the likes. Then, when it came time to turn in the items and do the final fight in DN, I would turn in the items, and the Spirit of Garzicor would never spawn. Three times I dragged my guild down to DN to do the quest, only to go home empty handed. Finally, I read about the bug on eqtraders (I think) and tried facing another way when doing the turn in, and it worked.

So now I go to do the final combine after the final fight, and FAILED. I remember crying for three days and not logging into EQ for a while after that. Finally, determined that I was NOT going to be beat by a stupid game, I logged in and went through the steps again. After coercing my guild to go to DN yet again for another kill, I succeeded at the final combine.

To this day, I still wear my Pitted Iron Ring. I've found better upgrades for that slot, and passed them over. I think until the day I retire, I will always have two items I wear, no matter how "old" they become, or no matter how much better of an upgrade I can get for that slot...they are my Pitted Iron Ring and my Blessed Coldain Prayer Shawl.

The Spirit of Garzicor quest is definitely NOT an easy one...it's VERY time consuming, and EXTREMELY aggravating. BUT, the greatest reward, is wearing an item that not everyone can and will get, but more then that, knowing you MADE the item yourself.

Keep at it, you'll get the quest finished, and it will be worth EVERY moment when you get there...
