  • Planar flag requirements going away-what will this mean?

    http://eqlive.station.sony.com/community/dev_view.jsp?id=55816

    3) Planar Progression.
Planes of Power has provided us with valuable insight into the group and guild dynamics that are involved in large scale games. The way that we had expected guilds to advance through the story of Planes of Power has become a roadblock for some guilds, and some members have fallen behind and found it difficult to catch up. Obviously this was not our intention. We want players to play with their friends and guild mates.

To correct this issue, we will be removing the flag requirements for entry into the following Planes of Power zones:

    Bastion of Thunder
    Plane of Tactics
    Halls of Honor
    Plane of Nightmare
    Plane of Storms
    Plane of Torment
    Plane of Valor
    Crypt of Decay

This will make the majority of Planes of Power zones available to everyone, and should allow most guilds to travel and adventure together. We understand that those that have already earned the entry flags for these zones have put some effort into that accomplishment. We will be giving a reward to those that have done so, though you'll have to wait to see what that reward is.

From this,it appears a lot of PoP tradeskilling is looking to become easier. Not to mention the flag issues for Aid Grimel etc.

Opinions? This is under the "Coming Soon" part of the Developer's section on EQlive-as in "next month" or so.

I want to know what this means for the Aid Grimel Quest. No for flags required for that till almost the very end? That would be great, then I just have to get my raw skill up and spend some AAs. But if that means I could do this quest, I might just forget Run 3 and Regen 3 and go all NTCM!

You'll need to get all the flags anyway since you need Elemental Planes access to make any of the decent earrings, and to get Elemental Planes access you will still need to go get all those flags. Basically all they are doing is giving everyone the same access you would have if you did all the access quests to get in those zones: you can zone in but can't use that to progress forward, you'll need all the flags.

LOL - I'll tell you one thing that dropping the flag requirements means - a ton of pre-60 corpses at zone in.

Woot!! This means I might be able to get all the bones for the Fisherman's Companion. Of course all three of my main characters already have one, after spending large sums of cash in the bazaar, but I’d still love to get the bones and give them to friends.

Most people in high level guilds are completely against this. Not for the fact that it would help people join the raid. Its for the fact that people would then be able to INTERFERE with raids

For instance on a RZTW raid lots of newbies in the zone could cause undue lag as well as massive lag due to a number of corpses in arena (Even after they are warned to leave)

Plus the harm that is caused by verants "fix" to rallos zek event where people on the upper ledges are randomly ported to random zones so they cannot the mobs up there

As far as aid grimmel zone access doesn't matter. True flag kills matter.

Bertrox and terris give access to torment. If you do the alt entry into torment currently it doesn't make up for the flag so that part wont work
Others are bosses of 3rd tier zones so even if you can get into a 3rd tier zone for free it wont help

you can read my opinion there if you are interested, I don't like to cross post :P

The interference on raid problem already exists and the high level guilds are usually the ones doing it to each other. It was happening lots before PoP and it just got more isolated to the planes with the flagging requirements.

I have never seen a casual guild intentionally mess something up for another guild, but get really tired of watching raiding guilds try to best each other and do things they really shouldn't be able to get away with. Why are most event planning parts of message boards secret? Sole reason is to keep other guilds from causing problems. Bah, it is just a game, why does it bring out the worst behaviors that some people have.

What it means to me, is that people will ACIDENTALLY (maybe on purpose) blow needed quests...

For example... somoe who does not know baetter, because they are not in a guild making an effort... goes and hails one of the quest trigger mobs in HoH, see's it is a quest and follows the hails... Next thing you know... it is blown fo another week jsut by a person being CURIOUS...

that is waht I am afraid of the most. Currently people who get in those planes KNOW not to start rings and such... with this, people that do not know any better will be blowing spawns needed to progress to elemental planes all the time. Not to mention more access for malicious people. But those are more rare than curious folk.

I thought they changed HoH to be you followed the dialog then a mob spawned, then you have to kill that mob in order to actually start the ebent. So unless these people killed the first spawned mob, the event would not be blown. Then again, I never did pay much attention to that change and could very well be wrong.
