Delayed rant I should have posted a year + a few months ago, so it's kinda lacking steam. Long ago I was trying shadowscream, did the quest for my hammer and anvil, farmed owlbear cubs in paludal and some sonic wolves in Tenebrous (sp). Was going to get my wood elf druid high in smithing because I just wanted to twink my alts with colored fine plate (this was before the new blue diamond cultural was introduced and the smithing triv change was even suspected) and I realized my wood elf druid was easier (and higher skilled) to skillup then my lvl 8 High Elf enchanter (had stars in my eyes at one time about old cultural high elf chain for my druid) and was just smithing for the heck of it. I was in my low 40's (or high 30's, been so long can't remember) then as a druid and wasn't powerful enough to control the Hollowshade Moor war (assuming it wasn't broken). After losing my hammer and anvil 3 times (two times to closing the forge without grabbing my anvil, once just lag) I screamed in frustration and turned my back on this skillup path forever.
Why can't they just change the hammer and anvil to summonable items like we have with the fisherman's companion? Two seperate items, or just one (fishermans companion summons no rent pole, that summons no rent beer
) , one no drop item that doesn't have to go near the forge that can summon a no rent hammer, hammer summons no rent anvil...unlimited charges. Just something to bypass that rediculous no drop forge and hammer that I saw go poof in the forge so often. So at 238 skill I'm again thinking of going this way..but like any time since I got over 200 skill I'm still so wary with remembered frustration, I still don't see the advantage of doing shadowscream again.
