  • The Grimel quest

Although I applaud the use of tradeskills, and those of you who have already completed this quest, it worries me.

High end players with tons of cash and AA points skilling up to 220+ in all tradeskills to get this earring? Now every high end guild will have mulitiple people with 220+ skill and geerloks (or better) to do all their combines for everything. Thereby eliminating the need for the lower end tradeskillers.

Somebody like me who made a lot of money by selling cultural armor to those upper end players will soon find out every guild has a high elf smith.

All the people who made money on the PotC items are now going to be flooded with more and more 200+ skill up items hitting the market as people work towards that 220+ mark. I imagine the market on sickles and star ruby steins to bottom out over the next few months. And I imagine the market for tailoring components to skyrocket.

Oh well, it's been a good run. I made my money while I could (I was 244 when they changed things, and the only high elf GM on server). Guess it is time to focus on xp.

Just because the high end guilds will have people who now have 220+ in all skills will want to or have time to farm supplies for high end products of tradeskills.

And whether good or bad, many high end folks have a negative opinion of the final result - it's not "good enough for them" or "it should be the best earring outside of PoTime and it isn't". Those folks won't spend the time.

I think the market is safe enough. True, died-in-the-wool tradeskillers spend way more time farming supplies, doing sub-combines, tending to seller mules than a true, died-in-the-wool high end raider would have time or desire to.

This is not to say that there are many high end guild folks who don't have the above opinion or want to do it anyway because they play all the time or because they still just really like tradeskills and/or quests...I just think that your fears are not as bad as you think.

Its actually somewhat of a shame. A lot of work was put into making this quest, adding new recipes solving this quest, etc. The folks who can get into those zones to do the quest generally have a poor opinion of the final result. They have equivalent or better and its not worth the time unless you already have the skills.

I drool over that final result. I have some very nice gear, but nothing close to that. And I have the tradeskills to do it. And I have completed or am extremely close to completion on every alternate entry quest in PoP. But I'll never get into the elemental planes.

Anyway, ya, I was seeing a lot of new tradeskillers before it got solved, that seems to have tapered off. Looking at who is selling what in the bazaar, it seems more normal than it had been for a few weeks prior to being solved.

Zacatac, like the 2 posters above me, I disagree with your conclusions. The folks who have the flags to complete this quest almost universally whine about the stats (not good enough for them). The folks who lack the flags almost universally like this item.

From other observations, I have noticed more and more grandmaster tradeskillers withdrawing from the market. Some have gotten secretive, and the first couple of questions out of them are "who told you I am a X_skiller?" followed by something along the line of "you are not in my guild, I will not assist you."

This issue had already been beaten to death here:

there is no need to make yet another topic about it, is there?
