  • Smithers?

Ok, this is more of a peeve than a scream, but I'm going nuts on this one.

What the heck is a SMITHER? DO they mean SMITH? Being that smithing is my chosen tradeskill, untill I have 3 AA points to burn so I can have 2, I pride myself in being able to answer when asked, "Yes, I am a smith"/ However, when asked the other, I have to say, what the heck is a smither.

must be like those jewlers. (note, JEWELERS, is the proper spelling for that).

At least the potters and bakers don't have to worry about this

Smithers in some colloquial dialects is a slang/abbreviated term for smithereens.
    as in 'Blown to smithereens'
    Smithereens being small fragments.
Soo I guess they are looking for small fragments which, I assume, you are not...

      Its Mr. Burns assistant.

So the next time someone announces they're a 'Smither', just shout, "Smithers, fetch me Simpson right away!"

      hee hee

And if they say, "Okay," then don't forget to add in an "Eeexcellent!"

it grates on my ears to hear people say 'where is it at?' and 'who are you talking to'?
'where is it?' is proper, as is 'to whom are you talking?' though i could even deal with 'whom are you talking to?'

I shall keep this in mind, and tell my friends that it's not a 'smither', it's just a 'smith.'

          what about 'smithy', though?

I hate the term Smither as well!

            I also hate Tailorer!

I really hate it when people say they've heard I'm a GM "brewer." Not because it's wrong, but because it usually winds up with me in CS looking for those darned stingers...

This irks me too. I say we strike until people stop trivializing our arts. I'm a 212 SMITH, not smither or armor guy or forge junkie (well, ok, so I AM the last one). Tradeskillers, unite and strke! The Clerics Against Click Stick Epic Trivialization local 142 will join us!

(Silly as this was, I really dont like being called a smither)
