  • Stupid ISP

    Geesh, I hate my ISP.

Last week, left up my toon in trader mode over night for a couple nights. No problems. Wake up, still connected, everything is fine.

This week, I try the same thing. Get up in the morning and have the message on my screen "You have been disconnected due to lack of activity". Generally, I noticed that I was booted by my ISP about an hour or so after going to trader mode. I know this becuse of the buffs that are still up when I log back in.

So, I figured I would try something while I was at work today. Log in around 7:15, set up as trader. Call my house 7 hours later, still connected  I have voice mail that picks up when online, so thats how I know.

Aaarrghhh... Why can't they just leave me connected all the time when I am on. I'll be glad when my contract is up in a year and a half and go back to a local ISP.

More than likely what happened was that the Bazaar crashed. That sends you back to the server select screen, which as far as I know, generates no traffic. Which is probably why you got disconnected for lack of activity. :?

I woke up this morning to find that the bazaar on my server had crashed as well. Not sure how I'm doing at home, right now, though.

I have to agree, the problem is more often the bazaar than my ISP when I drop.

I have DSL, which doesn't always say much, but my current provided has been extremely reliable, so if I am not connected to EQ when I get home, you can bet it was a zone crash, emergancy patch etc.

In bazaar natuarally you aren't idle, everyone is moving and that causes a lot of activity on the modem, but once at char select I do not think it is sending/recieving any data.

I really wonder about the bazaar ... I get more of the "sudden packet loss crawl to 100% then back to 0% and doing a /who all anything will correct it" there than anywhere else. Despite all the data, my computer and the server don't seem to be talking. I don't know where the fault lies (router, modem, ISP, route from ISP to servers, or the Sony network), but is an annoying and consistant problem.
