Grats on the New Tanaan Crafting Mastery. Someday I would like to have those same aas, the signet earring looks very good.

Shaman is definitely a very clear class you want to hit at least 60 with ASAP. Torpor is huge soloing and in experience groups, and nice to heal casters very efficiently, and malo is a must on most raids.
LMAO, get 60 for torpor? On my server that spell sells for 60-90kpp (when it is available for sale at any price - most guilds are hoarding it for their shamen and twinks). There is no way I would spend that much for a spell. I don't care whether you think it is worth that much, I refuse to spend that much. I have stoicism and have helped about 10 other shamans (twinks too, come on down!) get stoicism. I can solo some decent spots and get decent AAs at 56 (like the zone-in in howling stones). Heck will freeze solid before I spend that much on torpor. I got malo in a GM event, so there is no need for me to drop 30-40kpp for my own copy of that spell. I won't spend 10kpp for avatar, so when I finish the cudgel quests, carnage will be good enough for you. Oh yeah, most tanks wig out when you heal them with stocism (I expect the same with torpor, since they both have the same reduction in movement speed - 100%- and attack speed - 30%).

On my paladin, I had aa set to 90% until I got pov/pos flagged (took 4 months). I did not want to ding 61 and let the old world turn green: I still make trips to howling stones (/rude drusel) and sebilis. So I have 21 aa at level 60 and just got flagged for pov/pos and bot (oh, it never rains but it pours).

As for folks telling you what to do, do what is best for you in your situation. My guild was melting down and eventually disbanded. As part of the melt down, folks who did get flagged, tried to get others flagged and usually gave up in frustration. If you have a strong guild, my recommendation is run3 and regen3 and then race for 60, get flagged and then do about 20% into aa (which is what many folks recommend).[/quote]

Saleani -- A shaman at 60 has been said to be like playing a different class than one at 59. Torpor is huge, and you'll never know how huge until you get it. And yes, tanks will bicker about getting it sometimes. I usually ask them if they would just rather die, and let them know that not only would I be happy to let them, I would probably actually find it funny if they insisted on learning everything the hard way. Healers should never let themselves be bullied as to how they use their mana by people who don't even know how much mana they have or what they need to use it on; slowers even less so.

Now that there's stoicism, that's nice too, though. But don't denigrate what you don't have. Torpor makes things like a fungi and AA regen irrelevant, and really levels the playing field across the different shaman races.

Malo is actually the more important spell for raiding and general use, but torpor is a huge solo tool and comes in surprisingly handy for groups. Avatar I wouldn't pay ten cents for.

There's also focus at 60, and group focus too! Those are very, very nice spells, and can add a lot to a group or raid.

By the way, there are plenty of people who will pay 60k and much more for a spell. And -- there are people who are in guilds that already have torpor/malo and other such spells stockpiled for them and any number of people who level. I've known level 40's who already had torpor waiting for them.

Verdandi, my shaman, Blarg, is one of the guys who often told people detailed reasons to stay 60 or 61 unless they had adequate gear, flags, a satisfactory amount of AA already, etc. Some of those threads might still be around, I don't know. I have a pretty good reputation there. I stayed at 60 till I had 110 AA points myself, and only the 61 pet made me even consider getting 61. Then NTCM came along and now I have the first level of planar power and of innate enlightenment. so it's worth being 61 for me just for the wisdom/tradeskill boost. If I were still in an aspiring uberguild and fully flagged, 65 would be a no-brainer. But I've seen so many people quit or lose interest slowly in the game once they raced to 65 that I would never recommend people just take someone else's advice on leveling without thinking it over very carefully.

Following the direction of the thread which has gone totally OOC I have to ask for some advice. (BTW, I prefer the wisdom of fellow Tradeskillers so I ask here instead of at the Crucible.) I am a level 44 Shaman. I prefer soloing. Where should I hunt to get exp, cash, and goods for tradeskilling? Is there any one zone that will do all of this? And afterwards, where should I go? I have looked for good current soloing guides for Shamans but have come up empty thus far.

Quinner - My shaman (well, my highest shaman) is only 25, but you should hunt in Tenebrous Mountains at 44 for exp, cash and tradeskilling. What I did at a similar level with my druid is hunt the Katta spawn of the tormented Vah Shir...and gained 3 levels, a few hundred plat, 8 8-slot bags of acrylia and 12 skulls for the shield quest in Katta (8 of which I gave to a friend for his shield). Would that I were driven for more monies, I could have hunted differently, but I was after the skulls. Therefore, I got bats and skeletons instead of a constant supply of cash/component loot.

My druid is 52 now and most of the stuff is green, but you should still be able to kill things quickly, get lots of acrylia, lots of cash gems, lots of windstones and essence of wind. There are also plenty of sonic hounds there to get shadowscream components (well, wailing substance anyway). Just my thoughts.

Quinner, if you haven't been there these words wont yet make you cringe but Dreadlands.

A lot of PU groups there, exp is steady, and decent, and they can almost always use another shaman. Definately not the "best" exp in the game, but it will get you through those levels.

My monk went from about 42-48-49 there or so, and then moved in to KC. There are many more options if you have your own group, and I didn't hang out in either place much once past 52-53 as guild groups became more of an option.

It's not that easy to get much loot at that level. Personally, I would just go pack on some more levels, after which you can get in better situations to make loot. Doing the bloodgill goblins in Lake of Ill Omen is a traditional thing to do around the mid 40's to 51 or so(though experience gets notably worse starting at 49) and will max your swimming skill to 200. Harpoons regularly drop there worth 60pp each to a vendor, and another weapon worth 20pp. Run to the vendor in the mill and sell those and the runes you get. You won't get rich, but 200 swimming is very very nice, and the experience is really good. On the way to The Deep, there's a branch of Echo Caverns that has bugs and things in it, some of which are dark blue to 51 and some of which are light blue all the way to 60. They are pretty good experience, and respawn fairly quickly. And you could always go farm fine steel in Sol A off of Lavastorm and either convert it into ore to help finance your FS smithing or just sell it and buy ore later. The mobs should be easy for you by then.

Tenebrous is definitely a combo of experience/loot and tradeskill items, if you go there. No idea what experience ranger, personally, but you can fill up backpacks worth of bags with acrylia and runes. My ogre could bank in katta, but some shaman races are KOS in Katta, and that's by far the nearest bank. You can sell runes in Grimling Forest at the kitty camp if you are KOS in Katta, by the way.
