  • Why I hate Frogloks

I was an active blacksmith previously, but after I switched from playing a Dark Elf as a main character to a Vah Shir bard as my main, I didn't make much armor.

I was ofcourse slightly miffed that Vah Shir didn't have any form of cultural, and the in my book lame excuse being that the deeply spiritual Vah Shir can't have a culture since they don't have any gods.

Ok, then in leaps the froglok. And I slowly realize that Frogloks can wear JUST ABOUT ANY KIND OF CULTURAL!

    Luminant Heraldic? Check.
    Fine Heraldic? Check.
    Koada'Dal Mithril? Check.
    Brellium plate? Check.

They can even wear the beloved Teir'Dal Adamantite I put so much effort in learning to make! I just noticed this a few days ago when I logged on my smith to make an order for my guildie.

What makes Frogloks so special? Why are Vah Shir still taking the boot? Frogloks have it just as good as Half Elves in regards to how many armors they can wear. If they add an own cultural tradeskill to frogs someday, I'm gonna explode.

I've sent a rather constructive comment through Devs Corner but haven't gotten any response to it, I just wish they would stop the frog favoritism already.

    -_-;;

Look at it this way - you have a whole new customer base, and the majority of them (that I've met, at least) like to throw their plat around for their new twink froggies.

I think the error is that they called this stuff "cultural." It should have been called racial/religous.

I personally don't care about a new customer base... sure it's nice, and I made quite a bit of cash selling Solstice Gifts and selling stuff for others...

But I agree that it stinks that Vah Shir got so ripped off in the "Cultural" department.

My personal recommendation is to either put Vah Shir on Full Mithril & Blessed Full Mithril (on the Religion PvP server, Vah Shir follow Tunare) or create non-Imbued Helanic Plate/Chain/Leather recipies for Barbarians to craft.
Assuming that they don't just give Vah Shir their own recipies.

Personally, I think it's time they address the entire deity selections. Why, for example, would High Elven casters worship Karana, and who other than a newbie would do so knowing there will be absolutely no benefit and the decicion would preclude them from wearing any imbued armor? I know far too many people who chose their deity knowing nothing more than a few blurbs in a booklet printed long before any cultural was in the game. Wouldn't a deity fix be better than filling up the database with all sorts of new armor to fill the cultural gaps?

First off ... Vah Shir has no cultural because they have no god. If you wanted a cultural race, then go play the halfelf. You choose Vah Shir, thats part of their package.

However, I would like to see some flexibility in religions. For example my halfling druid is max ally to all the major Tunare Factions. Wouldnt it be cool if there was a quest in the game where I could convert my diety from Karana to Tunare? Maybe I wouldnt be able to use the Teir'Dal tailoring kit etc, but I could then wear the armor?

Think he meant FeirDal or whatever wood elves are.
It confuses the heck out of me b/c I hear Teir, think Tunare, and then think wood elf.
That and FeirDal sounds way spookier than TeirDal.

I’m don’t have high enough smithing or tailoring skill to have a lot of experience with cultural armor, but I don’t buy the argument against Vah Shir cultural because of a lack of a deity. If you follow that logic they wouldn’t be able to cast spells either. Whatever power allows Vah Shir to cast spells could also be used to infuse their armor with power. Perhaps I don’t have a great enough understanding of what constitutes cultural armor, but that scenario makes sense to me.

A people can have a culture without a God.
/agree it should have a word based on deity of some such.

The primary concern among Vah'Shir isn't that they can't make cultural armor, but that they can't *wear* any. It's unfair to say they should have picked another race because the BD cultural armor was added *after* Vah'Shir were.

The fact remains Vah'Shir are the *only* race that cannot even wear any non-imbued cultural armor. Some classes of Gnomes, Trolls, and Half-Elves could always wear armor made by other races and now Frogloks come along and can wear most everything.

Up until LoY , I felt your pain.

As a gnomish caster, there was ZERO BD cultural for me. In fact, there was very very little tradeskilled armor. Ice Silk just isnt feasible for me, and If there is decent INT gear among the velious stuff, Lord knows I dont know enough.

Light Elves, Dark Elves, and Erudites can all make armor for their casters, and humans can wear the unimbued versions.

But I was unloved. Until LoY. Now I get the third Human robe, or if I wanted to be a purist, the Third Gnome Robe. I wish there was more then just robes, though.

                            beef with diety crap

hey for one, where's the agnostic cultural equipment eh? are we heathens or something? do we drag our knuckles around on the ground grunting at food and lower species all day wearing our birthday suits?

                            No.

but I'm not agnostic, I was just vouching for them.

no I choose Karana, loooong ago...........*thunderclap!! flashes of light*

(cue mysterious mystic fog) I read the choices of my deity selection carefully, oooh-ing and ahhh-ing at the descriptions of Gods and Goddesses, and took one to a liking.....KARANA the God of THUNDER *thunder thunder lightning!!* I fell in a trance, spell-bound by his control over the clouds and rain.

                            (wave away fog)
see I'm kind of a weather buff IRL...

                            (CUE FOG!)

And Karana seemed like just the way to go for me, I could see myself standing at my Lord's feet, his eyes flashing like lightning, voice booming! like the heavens themselves were falling to his mighty feet!!

                            (pant, pant, pant)

And now that equates to I can't wear high elven armor because: 1 it's Tunare, 2 on top of that some of it would be only wisdom gear anyway.

                            :?

They need to at least add a couple more god choices to each race and pieces that suit wisdom casters and intelligence casters separately would be nice.
                            take the belt for instance...think it's smithed, like ac9 int/wis 5 blah blah hp/mana 40
hey that's a nice belt, but can I wear it?
                            No, I'm a karana worshipper blah blah me-me-me mo-mo-mo

anyway, that's how I feel about racial and diety stuffs.

                              My 3.5 coppers

                              1) It is totally unfair that the Vah Shir have no BD armor. They can't make any nor can they wear any nor is there anything comparable for them. This could be easily solved by adding them to the Barbarian armor base if SOE did not wish for the Vah Shir to have their own comparable crafted armor for the classes currently available to the Vah Shir.

                              2) Northman gear is very poor when compared to the 1st tier Cultural Gear of other races. The Imbued Ivory pieces all add +2 Wis, +1 Str and +2 sv vs Cold.......woohoo. This does not even come close to the bonuses offered by the human, dwarven, or elven 1st tier Cultural. (The lower trivial rates don't make up for it, they just make it even more useless.) And to top it all off, there is no imbued jade version. Guess SOE wanted the Barbarian Worshippers of Rallos Zek to buy human made armor.

                              3) I could live with differences in what recipes are available to different races if there was an effort to be equitable to all of the races. It's great that there are different races so there should be different rewards for EACH race in ALL aspects of the game. (Like each race having their very own hometown, , right Cigarskunk?) It seems as if some races have champions at SOE and others do not.

Balance, I seek balance in the force......
