You know, in all of this, no one has asked the most important question yet. Cigarskunk started this thread by talking about his experiences on a Zek server, but he didn't answer the single most important question when dealing with Cigarskunk -

How many frogs did you kill?

I was stereotyping the posters on that board, I know nothing of the average player on a Zek server.

If you visited that board, and posted regularly then you have some serious psycological problems.

I don't care if you have a white picket fence, 3 beautiful kids, and go to church every sunday. If you go to a board, put a schwastica in your signature with a picture of ******, and use the 'N' word 7 times per post (and not the N word relating to the schwastica, the racial slur one), you need help.

You also need a history lesson, but that is a different complaint.

        heh.

        1) Merchant mining on Zek rocks - picked up tons of silks, pelts, eggs - everything that a tradeskiller could possibly want.

        2) The bazaar is a ghost town - a lousy 100 traders with the most miserable spread of gear for sale I've ever seen - there wasn't even one peice of stat food for sale - a descent baker could clean up there!
        1) yes, merchant mining does turn up the occasional good item, especially if you know where to go.

        2) dang, are you sure? you must not have been on when i was, Iroke has about 3 stacks of halas 10 at all times. altho... NO stat food... that's odd. see, MTPs used to be 500p a piece, seeing as they're used in the POTC quests. But my rival {name reference removed} recently moved from the Halas market to the MTP market and totally and completely bombed it out, percentage wise. Now, we have {name references removed} who have, every time i check, MTPs up.

We don't have decent bakers on sullon. We have power bakers, and undercutter bakers. goes with the server.

Just a really weird XP - not bashing the Zek servers, just culture shock I guess - does anyone here have a tradeskill character on any of those servers and if so, what's it like?
Sullon. Someone called it the 'server without the pnp.' Sadly enough, it is. See, other Zeks are 'survivable', even Rallos with it's 'coin AND item' loot code, because You Can Only Kill White Cons. Sullon: a 65 Necro with a 65 Pet can waltz into Gfay and smear the noobs. If anyone's heard me say that more than once, it's because it happens more than once.

Sullon is the server that puts an iron cage around your heart and then slowly shrinks the size of the cage. Sullon is the server that makes me jump when I go to Mithaniel and see the text "NPC_4,593 begins to cast a spell." Sullon makes you paranoid, callous, and vicious. Sullon can make the weak cry, and the bullies and obsessive illusiory-strong.

On Sullon, PVP is all about your Magic Resist, and who could start casting Manaburn first. I had one frog tell me there was no benefit in smithing and that tradeskills sucked, and anyone who did tradeskills was a moron who could spend his time better XPing. I linked him my Golden Efreeti and told him my Halas 10s paid for them... twice over. (He proceeded to be a complete and total donkey-rear in matters other than tradeskill discussions, and I called up a friend, a very high level neut, and asked him to come PK the idiot frog. My friend did, and said it was very odd to be recieving tells from goods thanking him for wiping a groupmate across the landscape.)

Tradeskills on Sullon are... very odd. I found small pieces of velium today for 10p each. Acrylia, of course, is insanely rare and through the roof, but acrylia products (ie, tailored ones) are dirt cheap. Anything from the planes (Ceramic Sword of Ican'tremember) is over 250k. A friend pays me 200p/stack to imbue emeralds, having made a fortune on the mistletoe cutting sickles. I found a perfect owlbear pelt (rallic pack ingredient) on a vendor for a gold and some. Marketed it for 400p. Marked it down till it sold at 20. Had that stupid thing for forever; of course, NOW I have that stupid Runner's Pack, and no pelt. grr.

High end pop baking is unheard of. Why? The Neutral and Evil teams have most of the Planes by the throat, and are keeping anything they have either because they want it themselves, or they're simply so ignorant that they don't know what they're looting, so they destroy it. Anyone who says the Good team sucks unfortunately isn't wrong. Everyone at the moment wants to be Neutral so they can try to join Tides of Wrath. Tow has proceeded to cut a swath of blood as deep as your waist across Norrath. You don't win against Tow; you gate. And you hope you don't land naked. The two 'best' Good guilds hate each other so badly, the leader of one wouldn't let a member of the other loot a NoDrop breastplate while on a raid; instead, the leader told members of his guild to auction looting rights in Pok; a member of the Evil team guild Hate bought it. This is the condition of Sullon. The other good Good guild keeps upping his level requirements, getting his guild better, yes, but more cliquish at the same time. When I left the first guild I had really been a part of, and started looking for other Good guilds... I was frighteningly disappointed. Decently-structured Good guilds hardly exist. Everyone wants to be Evil or more accuratley, Neutral. It's a wonder I've been killed as few times as I have.

Regarding the inappropriate behaviour of the people from Sullon:
        unfortunately, that too is true.

HAHHAHAHAHAHAH I think I know who you're talking about. Her name escapes me, and I think for board posting purposes that's probably ok...{name reference removed again}? the BP guild bc'ed her, along with anyone they could get to join in. It was atrocious.
{reference to an entire guild removed - Sanna you know the rules.} I do recall the incident. Roomie was sickened for a long time.

There was another guy, a friend of Roomie, he is a neut... HE did fall asleep and got bc'ed and lost 2.5 levels. This was a long time ago, he's recovered all the xp, etc. But he just claimed it as his own fault and went on. However, HE was the number 1 neut pker; oh yes, there was MUCH rejoicing that day.

This is like a huge long post. Someone might ought to have hid me from this thread, heh.

Why do I play on Sullon? Because I dream this totally futile dream that I will be able to gain enough levels so I can join the guild my Roomie is in, and go do the cool things she does, etc. There are days I wish so very hard that I did not play on Sullon, but most of the time it's not so bad.

It's depressing when I and a guildie ding 39 in the same night. New spells. The next time I log on, he's about to ding 44; another set of new spells for him, and I haven't even fought at all with my 39 ones. Those are the days that make me wish I had never started this game. On a blue server, levels don't matter so very much. On Sullon, that's all that matters. Higher levels = higher spells = better chance of survivial. It's not even survival of the fittest, it's survival of the highest.

Ok, rant over. Did I actually answer any questions? heh.
