I am one of the top tradeskillers in my guild. Lots of people know me and come to me for combines. I love that. It makes me feel wanted.
I was having a good day on Sunday. I got two metallic liquids in PoV on Saturday and successfully made a Ceramic Shield of Valor. Someone included a Midnight Stone in a trade, which I turned into an Iron Amulet of Unseen Horror. Another person gave me a stack of Hero Meat for a port, and I succeeded on all ten subcombines and all ten final combines for a full stack of sandwiches.
It was a good day, until I started doing combines for other people.
It started with a stranger who had heard I could research her Levitation spell (she was a druid). I told her I would charge 200pp and she gladly handed over the items. "You have failed." I felt so bad, because she told me how it had taken her nearly a month to get the two drops, and I didn't accept her money.
I had two NO DROP sapphires in my bank and offered to make Engraved Royal Velium armor for anyone who wanted to provide the hound furs and velium. Guildy bought all of the stuff in the bazaar for one bracer and one set of arms. I succeeded on all of the subcombines but failed on BOTH armor combines in the forge. I still have the gems.
Another guildy is gathering the parts for a Solstice earring. He needed a Gem Studded Chain and brought me the materials. Fail. He got another set. Fail.
It was a good day to be selfish. All of my own combines worked flawlessly. I felt bad for my friends, and very embarrassed.
