  • Knowing your class

I started a Mage on Vallon Zek almost 4 years ago. I level her to 53 before I moved to the Luclin server to hang out with some RL friends. This was before they allowed PvP to Non-PvP moves, so I made a new mage on Luclin. Leveled her to 65, have 51 AA and have GM'ed 3 tradeskills so far. I KNOW MY CLASS. 118 levels as one class and you know it inside and out. I know what spells to cast when. I know just how much I can nuke a mob without stealing agro and getting summoned. I know what spells work best on what mobs. I know a mage inside and out.

So the fact that I logged with 4 stacks of Imbued Plains Pebbles in a summoned backpack yesterday makes me feel so stupid.

    ACK!!!!

    Aww man, that's not cool.

My mage is only 36th, and the worst I've done is 4 summoned bags of fine steel weapons.

    My sympathies.

      no-rent bags

Yeh, I /feedbacked an idea that if you're carrying no rent bags, you get a message, just one, when you camp, saying "Your summoned bags shimmer as you set up camp". Or anything.

Just one message when you camp. To give you that one chance to notice and remember.

        Ouch.

Thats as painful as having a root canal and the novicane wears off...

Kinda reminds me when "before" they took out the 'cannot combine' return feature..

Have a stack of high level components on one container, add them to another, then accidently hit COMBINE instead of close on the wrong one..

        Ouch...

Hark! Who is that, prowling along the fields! It is Draggar De'VIr, hands clutching two hardened pitas! He cries gutterally: "In the name of Thor the Mighty, I hereby void your warranty, and send you back to God!!!"

            I third that motion.

Just if you have any no rent item at all it should say that.

Might be annoying for the mages who outfit themselves every time they log in, but for everyone else it would be very useful.

I NEVER use summoned bags. I have no problem summoning them for anyone who wants to use them, but I'd rather carry 6 handmade backpacks and a Rallic Pack (need one space open for my Collapsable Mixing Bowl and Spit), knowing that I don't have to worry about losing items if I log off and forget, go LD, or the server crashes.

I feel your pain...I logged off once with my boots of bladecalling in a no rent bag and didn't realize it until I was in bed an hour later...

You may be able to petition and get the items returned, depending on the GM who answers your petition. Don't beat yourself up too much, even the best mages make mistakes from time to time...

                  my trick

I have had this happen to me as well. Most recently because I use my Grandmasters Satchel - No rent a lot for extra loot space. I never keep anything in that bag these days, except things I can afford to lose...

However, on my Monk Twink, who hunts with my mages roommate, I did this little trick.

                  Camp - Hotkey
line 1 - /say Did you leave anything in No rent bags?"
                  Line 2 - /say camp
line 3 - /say last chance to keep your items in No rent bags

This gives me a visable Cue that I have no rent bags. I tend to forget quickly that I am using them. More often than not, I stop the camp, check the bags, go sell, then recamp after emptying & destroying my no rent bags as a final verification they are empty.

That's the primary reason I rarely use No Rent bags, and I always make sure that if there's anything in the bags, its something that MUST be in there for weight reasons.

I did that a few days ago with a Tae Ew chain tunic for a guildee.
                      I was... mildly peeved.

A friend of mine lost J-boots that way.

After a raid once in a previous guild we had many gems and such for the guild vault. Someone ran to where the vault character was camped but was going to log in the next day to trade since they needed to go. Luckily we caught the person on an instant message program before they turned the computer off since all the stuff was in no rent bags.

I don't use the no-rent bags myself for exactly that reason, I just know that I will camp out, and lose a heap of stuff.

I have enough trouble trying to keep track of all my things as it is.

I will be creating this key as soon as I log in today.

I fell victim to my first no rent casualties the other day.
In preparing to do a massive run of solstice robes, I made 20 stacks of celestial essence. I summoned some extra grandmaster satchels to hold them while I made them. I think you know what happened next.

I could care less about the pp lost, but FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HUMANE, I am dreading the task of preparing 20 more stacks of CE.
