  • Arrrrrgh!!!!

Ok, I never thought I would ever honestly see the day I would be able to say I did 400 combines and didn't get a single, not one skill up.

800 spider silks later, 400 silk swatches... 400 chances to get up to where I can do wu's armor.. I'm still stuck at bloody 71 skill in tailoring.. is it my 65 Intelligence, or my 212 wis? Or is it more that a cat isn't supposed to be able to do tailoring...

It took me a week of farming in EK, killing everything that wasn't human or treant. All to make those spiders appear. I had to have the Benny Hill theme song running (Yakety Sax) whenever I was in there, just to fit the mood of all the spiders, cats, snakes, and dogs chasing after me while my kitty slaughtered them happily.

Ah well, whats another week, at least it hasn't gotten up to the multiple K range of plat that all of you spend..

    Take care all.

    *hugs*

I'm thinking that maybe you're doing something wrong...it took my cleric an even 100 swatches to get to like 83 or so skill...then 190 crystalline swatches to get to 135 (or is 131 where those cap?), then about 300 more swatches to hit 158.

Maybe you should show us the path you're taking?

I honestly wish I could say I was....

Either the RNG had it in for me or I was indeed doing something wrong. I was doing 1 silk swatch, 1 heady kiola, 1 veil pattern.

400 attempts later, I didn't see once a single skill up. Started at 71, stayed at 71... I'm beginning to wonder if tailoring might not be the right skill for this kitty to try. Maybe baking.. At least getting up to 150 has been good enough so far.. As long as the baslisks keep giving eggs I'm happy enough.

        Take care all.

My god, that's horrible! I mean that, I really do. 212 wisdom is about where my paladin's wis was at when he did tailoring, and while his experience wasn't near as good as the cleric's (251 unbuffed wis), it was certainly far better than that.

You have my most sincere condolences.

            Here's a hint:

            Go to Marus Seru.

            Slaughter Greyhoppers.

Combine 1 Greyhopper Pelt and Mask Pattern. Trivs at 88.

Combine 1 Greyhopper Pelt and Boots Pattern. Trivs at 95.

There, a bunch of stupid Wu's combines you don't have to do.

The RNG is not bullet proof, I would say it works about 95percent of the time, 4.9percent its a pain and the other .1 you get what you did.

Thats all my opinion based on seeing combines per skill for awhile on this web site. So you can dismiss that as just conjecture ...

But try the greyhopper route a bit, 400 combines is just awful, what makes it just amazing (in a bad way) is that it was AT 71 skill.

May have been one other problem.. I keep forgetting that I'm on the test server.. they may have been doing something.. I actually managed to get 2 skill ups (yay 73 now) with 3 stacks of swatches.

I think I will try the route of greyhoppers.. at least they sound cute when they get hit..

                  Take care all.

You used SPIDER silk for cured?!
                    On a Vah Shir?!
Go kill Tegi (Shak Dratha spawn at night, Gor Taku spawn during the day) in Shadeweaver's for shade silk, condensed shadows, and random cash drops. The zone has 2 merchants (plus 2 more Gor Taku merchants), and a bank. Tiamon Aroo sells all tailoring patterns, so if you whip up a few batches of heady peala, bank 'em, and go a-hunting, you'll be able o do everything else all in one zone.

I agree with Railina. Don't waste silk till you have to. Shade silk drops just as fast or faster, works just as good for cured skill-ups, and you can't give the stuff away in the bazaar. Silk is valuable and should be sold for cash or saved for when you have no other choices.

BTW You have my sincerest condolences on 400 combines without a skill-up. Doing it at 71 is the worst run of luck I have ever heard of. I have heard of longer runs but never at that low of a skill.

                        Here was your problem:

You were making cured silk armor - mask: 1 silk swatch, 1 heady kiola, 1 pattern……trivial 82

I think you wanted to be making Wu’s fighting armor – mask: 1 silk swatch, 4 heady kiola’s, [1 vial of viscous mana, 1 pattern…..trivial 135

edit: added vial of viscous mana, thanks delfontes!

                          Couple things...

                          I think you wanted to be making Wu’s fighting armor – mask: 1 silk swatch, 4 heady kiola’s, 1 pattern…..trivial 135
Don't forget that vial of viscous mana there, hehe, she'll need it.

Also Ms. Skunk had a skill of 71, a bit early for WU's, she was doing the correct combine.

The 400 combines without a skill-up at 71 skill is simply a bug, it is almost impossible to comprehend how the current system is.

I was skilling up 1 out of 3 combines almost exactly at that skill level, at almost the same main stat 215 int or so at the time. That means she had a 33% chance of skill-up about each combine... no way without something else causing it you could go 400 times without a skill-up. I'd think it was the test server there, most definately.
