  • How would you feel if it was your home city?

It's looking like the bulk (not all - I know some trolls like this) of the folks on the message boards that seem to be able to keep cool heads and are calling the whole Grobb incedent "dynamic content" are folks who don't have trolls as thier mains and are therefor not feeling the personal aspects of this change.

So who are you - are you a wood elf who thinks this is really neat dynamic change but would be rather angry if the CB orcs took over your home city and forced you to move to the dwarven or gnomish cities?

Do any of you ever feel "it's great to be back home in the old stomping grounds again" when you go back to train, do cultural skills, or just happen to be in the area? Imagine if the prospect of "going back home" was taken from you - possibly forever?

There's plenty of VI/Sony bashing and conspiracy posts going, so just keep this one as to how you feel about the prospect of possibly permantly losing your home if this had happened to your race instead of someone elses.

hmmm, i have no troll caracters, but, if ya wanna get technical, according to the storyline, the froggies are the ones returning home, and evicting the ones that occupied thier home (trolls) whilst they were gone. So the trolls never really had a HOME, just a place that they managed to occupy till it's owners came to reclaim it.

but, i'm a barbarian, and yes, i would be dissapointed if for example Ice goblins moved into Halas. i think the trolls got the shaft with their cultural forge being left behind for the froggies to destroy.

Remember when the de's took over rivervale and slaughtered all the newbie halfings.

But they gave the halflings back their home. NOT FAIR!!!!

Sure i accept those green skinned innoruuk worshippers but did you have to put them in my home town of Neriak!!!

Couldn't the de's have taken over freeport and put the trolls there?

I think I'm going to have to invoke the, "It's a game, dude" rule here.

If they want to put something new and exciting in Rivervale or Erudin, have at it.

I have said, many times, in chat.

I am a halfling. I like Rivervale alot.

If the Ogres or what-have-you took it over, I would be amazed. World changing events are very cool.

Just dont move me into Kelethin. I hate that too-tall city. Any other city but Kelethin.

            I'm an eruidite...

I love my city, don't get me wrong.

But when I tradeskill there... I am usually the only one in the zone.

A war, or a storyline at all would be great to spice it up a bit, and might be good for the tourism market .

I just hope we'd be strong enough to fight em off, hehe

Wouldn't Hurt my fealings if Erudin was taken over my the Kerans or Heretics in name of story.

My main is a Dark Elf, but Grobb was my first true home. When we first formed as a guild we consisted of Trolls, an Ogre who thought she was a Troll and me. Grobb was our base of operations and where we spent time relaxing, fishing and telling "no crap I was there" stories.

Personally, I am sad to have my original home taken away from me ... but I love the idea of dynamic content ... and I will accept this sacrifice.

Overall ... it comes down to ... death to all Froglok!

I honestly have to say this is one of the coolest things they've done in years. It ranks right up there with the Halloween events and the Bloody War of Kithicor.

This is the sort of stuff that got me interested in playing a game like this in the first place. For being an "ever changing world" the only changes we have seen since the games inception are mainly just those that are expansions. And yes, I know this technically falls under the "extention," but no expansion before has changed something this drastic in the game. Lizardmen didn't take over Oggok during Kunark's release and Kerran didn't take over Paineel.

Honestly, I have to say I wouldnt mind too much if Felwithe was overrun. It'd definetly create a good roleplaying enviroment and I'm sure I'd be out in G Fay killing those that took over my city.

I love it, hope they do a lot more of this stuff!

Its a shame that the Trolls have lost their city.

What I think would be nice is if there was some sort of 'hollowshade moor' style trigger to cause a load of trolls to spawn all over the place and try to take it back. With player assistance, and same for the froggies.
(or even allowing this to be done in every city as a game changing event, though you might have to somehow suspend faction hits for the duration)

I got a 48 troll warrior, and i have of course been back to revenge the takeover (ther merchant to the right of the guards conned gree, bwahahaha), and been looking for my sweet Zimblitte (anyone seen her in Neriak?), but i still think this change was a cool idea.
Of course i would like for the trollies to take back Grobb (Sorry, Gukta) and throw the froggies out and make them do their city into a new zone, as another event, but i doubt thats gonna happen. But i still think its only of the best changes VI made for a while, and wish they would make more big storyline changes like this (How many there been now? DEs in Befallen, Bloody Kithikor, the Gfay/Lfay corruption, any others?).

Hmmm the question I am asking, and I really am guilting of not following this whole story line fully (I have this aversion to multiple GM deaths, and losing wads of xp, yes I am cynical). Is, is it set in stone the trolls will be forever more in Neriak ?

And yes I would be a little bit miffed if I lost Rivervale...

I think trolls are just jinxed when it comes to home cities:
Guk - invaded by frogloks and taken over.
Grobb - invaded by frogloks and taken over.
Neriak Foreign Quarter - due (as some future point between EQ and EQ2) to be invaded by halfings and taken over.

Maybe they should go and take over Kerra Isle...after all no one goes there...

And I'm an heretic erudite. We didn't even have a city until just before Kunark, and then all lowbies (which I was then) lost access to it while The Hole launch events were going on. So I can sympathise in a way.
Itzena Alhazared, Revenant of {Planeteers}, Vallon Zek. And also a seamstress.
Gelcea Macha, Wandering Animist of Tarew Marr. Will be a smith, one day.

If dark elves took over my city, (kelethin) I would think it was awesome, and dynamic. I'd also expect that Sony would eventually move the Wood Elves to a new starting area of their own, which is what I think will happen with the trolls. Now, if they were permantly ostracized to share a starting town, that would be a little weak, but I don't think that is going to happen, I believe a new troll town will be created, maybe not nescesarily a newbie town, but a new troll town.

Couldn't the de's have taken over freeport and put the trolls there?
NO! NO! NO! NOT Freeport!!! Freeport is my starting city, my home city. I remember my very FIRST Character I made when I started playing EQ was a human, and I remember being lost in Freeport for HOURS on end, dying horribly in the sewers, to the sharks in East Freeport, chased out of the "evil" areas in East Freeport, and starting my tradeskills in North Freeport.

Even now, I visit Freeport regularly and get a tinge of nostalgia and sadness at how "empty" it is, and what a wealth of memories, experiences and good times I've had there. I couldn't imagine it suddenly becoming a place where I'm KOS.

Then again, I LOVE the Dynamic Content that surfaced with the upcoming release of LoY. I think it's rather cool, and something that is sorely lacking in EQ. Although, I do think that the storyline and everything else could have been done better. Personally, I think the Frogs should have started in Upper Guk. If that was not possible, due to removing an experience zone, or other technicalities, then perhaps let the trolls share Ogguk with the Ogres, and Neriak with the Dark Elves. I can understand and sympathize with the trolls who have been forced to relocate, however, keep in mind that in some cases, change is inevitable.

Lastly, also keep in mind something I've learned a while back: Home is not where you hang your hat, home is not where you lay your head. Home is not judged by it's size, location or condition, but by the occupants in it.

From a roleplaying aspect: The Trolls of today will have many great memories of their home in Grobb, and many stories that they can tell the Trolls of tomorrow. The Trolls of tomorrow will only know Neriak as their only home, and will soon make it "theirs".
