From the latest patch message:
Renamed one of two items called Drachling Silk. The Drachling Silk that was once no drop is now tradable and named Drachnid Silk.
I'm sure I wasn't the only one a little surprised to see this since it seems like a completely unecessary 'fix'. I took special interest in this because shortly after the patch last May that introduced BD cultural armor I sent a letter to Development. Unfortunately I don't still have a copy of it but I'll cover the basics. Note: There are many more discrepancies that I did not cover. My letter was focused primarily on the one below.
I pointed out the holes in the race/deity combinations of the new armor. In particular, I mentioned Iksar as having both a leather class and a silk class that had no new armor available to them. I stressed the issue of no race having both cultural smithing and tailoring and the 'crossover' that existed in certain race's armor. Ex: high elf and dark elf caster chain, erudite, halfling and woodelf tailored 'chain' and 'plate', and barbarian smithed 'leather'.
From a roleplaying perspective, I added that Iksar being isolated from the rest of Norrath would certainly have developed some better armor for their monks and necros. I also said that not being as advanced as elves would probably not have developed a caster chain. And with all the animals running around dropping hides why did only the halflings and woodelfs figure out how to make armor with them? With all this said. I proposed Iksar as being the most logical choice of being the first race to have both cultural smithing and tailoring. And I went further to propose a suggestion.
Drachnid silk armor! Sew it into a robe. Cure it and make it into a gi. Iksars have the innate ability to forage, so that wouldn't be an issue like morning dew or the like. Drachnids are crawling all over Kunark dropping silk and Iksar tailors have done nothing with it? It seemed like a perfect match. So after all this time has Verant decided so too?
