  • Hate the new Poison Drops

    I am so frickin tired of having these worthless rogue poison items on every flipping corpse. They have no vendor value, and no BAZ value as they are more common on mobs than copper.

    Can we please move these drops to ONLY rogue mobs at least, so I can actually have some amount on inventory space left after a night of killing, where I'm not having to destroy half of what I loot to keep corpses from littering the ground? Pease!!?!??! It's ridiculous.

    Ok I feel better now.

      I have a rogue, and I will purchase every Gormar venom, nigriventer venom, and larkspur that I see in the bazaar at a decent price if it is for level 60 or above. there are also 2 buyers I have seen on our server set up most of the time. I can never find enough of these 3 items. the rest of the leaves and the other 3 venoms I dont' bother with, but I know other rogues who do. I think if you throw them up on your baz mule at a not super inflated price, you will find they may sell.

      And I agree with Abbyssal.. when yuo start killing... use /hidecorpse looted
      then any mob you leave stuff on will magically disappear as soon as you stop looting.
      other commands that go with it you may want...
      /hidecorpse none
      /hidecorpse all

        I know all about /hidecorpse looted.

        That does not diminish the point of my rant. It is ludicrous that these are universal drops with such a high drop right off every mob type in the game. Do research materials drop off non-casters? No.

        This was lazy and annoying programming, especially since it is a dropped cluttering up so many corpse for one single class. I don't see any other class in the game getting this kind of special treatment, and lucky for us it gets to annoy every person of every level on almost every corpse.

        Whoopie for rogues I guess, but the point is I don't have the bag space to loot all this crap, when my bags were bursting over to begin with.

          The Gormar & nigriventer venoms, you might want to save and ask a rogue to make into poisons for you. yes for YOU.. you can use poisons.

            Regardless of whether I can use them, doesn't change the fact that I think their universal drop rate on all mobs creates corpse /inventory clutter.

            I suppose I just wish they would have simplified it. If Im fighting the same things for an evening, I'd get at most one type of parchment and one type of binding powder. However, it just seems I get 6-8 different posion components no matter where I am and if I'm fighting in an area that bridges a level difference in potion drops then it is even more clutter. And there are so many universal things on corpses these days I don't know how anyone has the bag spaceto handle it all.

            However, thanks for the information. I did not realize potions could be made for others. I won't go seeking them out, but it's good to know.

              No thanks, the universal drop rate is just fine.

              They used to be only off rogue mobs, and the drops were very rare or only in specified spots in zones.

              Your problem is you are trying to compare "caster mobs" an archtype to "rogue mobs" a class. And that of which is fewer mobs around.

              They changed it from class to what it is now because of the rarity of the items, and the insane sale prices in bazaar for people who camped those spots.

              If you cant use /hidecorpse looted then you are just complaining because you like to. There is no reason the devs should cater every loot table to your play style.

                Thanks for not paying attention. So I'll use sentences on every other line like yo,u so you can understand.

                There is TOO MUCH CRAP ON THE UNIVRESAL DROP TABLES which includes these poisons, and even though I start a night with 4 empty bags I still fill them.

                To CHOOSE not to loot these speicifc items off the corpses is onerous and takes tiem to sort through the up of 10 dropped items off some corpses.

                I suppose if I was a raider and didnt need any of the crap off corpses I could just turn all corpses off all the time, but what kind of stupid solution is that?

                yeah ok most of you disagree with my rant - fine. But ignorant replies are annoying. I've been playing EQ since Oct 1998. I know WTF /hidecorpse looted is and suggesting that as a solution is stupid.

                  1. The graphics for the rogue poisons are easy to identify, so you can easily tell which are rogue poison drops and just avoid even seeing what the text says when looting.

                  2. I explained why they are universal drop rates now, instead of rogue only mobs like you suggested. It used to be that way, but it proved to be too restricting on drops. But you know that right cause you been playing since 98, right?

                    #1 - The ones that look like poison sacks/vials and certain alchemy components make it a 50/50 shot, but after killnig in an area for a bit you come to recognize what is and isn't poison, but initally you have to spend time looking.

                    #2 - And I still disagree. Some places have few rogues, some places have few casters. it's the same thing. UP the drop rate from rogue mobs to ridiculous amounts and make them rogue drop only. Why are these ESSENTIAL? No other class or classes have to have a TS drop to be viable. Why are these required to drop from every firckin mob in the game? You want these then go farm rogue mobs. You want to research spells, then go farm casters. You want to make armor? Well those drops are VERY mob specific. Why does poison have to be different when it isn't even as important as what you wear on your body?

                    No offense but the logic used here is weak and being supported by those who love it, thus introducing bias. Fine you love it, but all kinds of long standing drop rules were changed for this one tradeskill, and it sucks.

                      They are essential because it was SOE's way to fix rogue dps since it was severely lacking. So basically every rogue must use these poison's to be on a relative level playing field with most other classes.

                      The rogue only dps poisons are vendor purchasable, but Ngreth made the utility poisons tradeskill only. He got into reasons why he made them this way, but dont remember the specifics offhand. The rogue only dps poisons at first caused insane agro, because they were crit'ing for 14k for the sustained poisons and over 32k for the one shot poisons. This almost made the utility drops required, because it reduced hate as well. For some reason these only dropped off of certain mobs. For example, initially you could only get lvl 80 hate reduction off of shrooms in hills of shade for the most part. This caused some limited camp sites and people farming it and selling in bazaar for insane amounts making it hard for everyone to get what they needed.

                      With items as a universal drop now it is much better, and more rogues have access to these utility poisons. I agree it is abundant, and I created an alt specifically to hold all the poison drops I wanna keep. But for the most part when im looting something, I just grab what I want and leave the rest go. The different level's of poisons are the same graphic but change in color. After a bit you can easily eye which ones to keep.

                      For the most part you want to keep the gormar and nigriventor poison lines, because those are the all/all utility poisons to make hate/dd and pure dd for any other class.
                      Rogue utility you want to keep muscimal (hate reducer) and everything else is meh, and depends on the rogue and situation.

                        Ok for informational purposes. How much DPS does a typical lvl 80 or lvl 85 poison produce? Or is that class/AA related?

                          Stewwy man...you need to calm down. Despite what you think, there is a market for poison drops if they are not super inflated. I am leveling my poisons and can never find enough Nigri or Gormar venom for Spider's Bite/Scorpion's Agony (all/all poisons). Your "problem" is easily gotten around by /hidecorpse looted and the rogue drops are very easy to distinguish from everything else.

                          This is a really, really silly thing to be "crying" about. Always pick up the Nigri and Gormar's, they sell well. Other then that, I don't know what else to tell you.

                          They aren't going to nerf drop rates because you hate seeing them drop..The drop rates were just increased because it was agony farming for them. They NEED to drop a lot because the end product they make are consumed a LOT.

                          It's not just about level 80-85 poisons either. Lower level poisons massively increase the killing rate for leveling characters. And IIRC I think I read somewhere one of the poisons (85) is +900 DPS or something.

                            I can;t tell you from experience on the ones Other people can use, but on my rogue ones, I consistantly crit over 8k at level 73. when I hit 75, and can use the next level, I will report back here what my crits are.. '

                            Will have to ask Pally hubby what the poisons from the Gormar/Nigriventer do for him.. He is 85.
