Once in my garden, next to a young peach tree I found a huge mulberry. I mean huge!!! never saw one like it!! There are not mulberry bushes or trees near my garden, but there is was. The only peach on this little tree was gone.

In the summer I have a lot of time off, so I do everquest things that I have wanted to do all year like make Bristlebane's Challenges. About halfway through my farming and setting up a buyer in the bazaar I see a link to :

the new drink. of course I had just given my powder of ro's from horsemeat farming away lol ACK.. now do I drop my mulberry and go for the new peach or keep the mulberry ?

Mulberries are relished by birds, evidence the purple stains on cars when the fruit is in season. (Some produce white fruit.) The birds brought your mulberry seed/tree.

In spite of the many berries, I consider these trees weeds.

And, since the tree grew HUGE, it probably dominated your peach tree with its shade. I suggest getting the bully out of there and let the peach have a chance to shine again.

(If course, peach trees need a lot of care for them to produce a pleasant crop beyond getting the mulberry out of there.)

Peach vs. Mulberry?

Where do you live? What type of soil do you have? What is the proximity of the Mulberry to the Peach? How much water do they get? Etc. Etc.

There are MANY factors that could have affected the Peach's growth and or production, lets not malign the Mulberry too hastily.

Another thing to consider: Have you tried the Mulberry fruit? While it is often the case that "volunteer" fruit trees do not yield "true" fruit, you may be blessed with a "good" Mulberry. I can tell you from experience that GOOD Mulberries are heavenly and aught to be cherished. In addition, Mulberry trees can withstand a healthy amount of pruning ( and by "healthy" I mean a LOT ) and IF indeed the Peach is being shaded by the Mulberry then perhaps you can prune the Mulberry back to allow the Peach more light.

One more thing: While it is true that Black Mulberries produce deep red juice, their juice is readily washed off and doesn't(!) leave a permanent stain ( except perhaps on a car that does not get washed...). I've gotten Mulberry juice on my hands and white T-shirt and both have cleaned up just fine.
