These days I am reselling 2 things: Misty Thicket Picnics and Kaladim Constitutionals. I always keep a stack of each in my bags to keep from eating/drinking other foods. I decided if I was going to keep something there, I might as well put a price on it, but since I didn't really want to sell them, I put it at four times the going rate (20pp compared to 5pp). Over the past couple years, I would tend to sell my stacks about every other week on average, mostly because there didn't happen to be any primary suppliers in trader. Recently however, the number of primary suppliers of picnics has dropped, and I am very often the only one selling. Because of this, I started selling my picnics for 50pp each, just to avoid the inconvienence of having to buy more. That plan didn't help, volume picked up even more. I am now keeping 4-5 stacks in trader at all times, with 2-3 more in my bank..and sellling 3-5 stacks every day (all the while buying them for 1/10 the price in the bazaar). It took almost 3 years, but I guess the DoN glut is finally wearing off, and food/drink prices are finally going back up again.
The funniest part of all this is: the food items I wanted to keep from eating in the first place (Exquisite Deep Mushrooms), never generated nearly the cash that I am making from MTPs.

I can definitely feel your pain. I've been on both ends of it.

Once, selling an AAAA, I left a zero off the price and lost nearly 100k platinum. The guy resold it. Luckily, he only bought one of the 2 I had. Why, I'll never know, but I chalked that one up to carelessness and didn't pursue it.

Recently, I saw someone with a LoN Starter Set up for a ridiculously low price. I first purchased it, then sent him a tell. Turned out he thought it was a deck, and said "Well, I screwed up. Grats." I offered it back to him, but he refused and insisted that I did something nice for someone that day. /shrug. I fulfilled his request and didn't pursue the matter otherwise.

THAT is what I was complaining about, and THAT is why I dragged his name into /ooc's. I have NO problems with anyone undercutting my prices. I have problems with people trying to artificially raise the price of an item in the bazaar by inflating their prices and purchasing everything under their price to make theirs the lowest one.

And I was referring to his insane 50pp/ea prices on Regen VI potions mostly... my prices were a QUARTER of what his were, and STILL making a profit. I'm sorry, a potion that costs just under 10pp/ea to make, being sold for five TIMES that? No, that is outragous for a potion made with entirely vendor-sold ingredients.

And apparently there WASN'T anyone who wanted to give anyone competition. My prices were consistantly the bottom of the barrel. Either the lower sellers were getting bought out by the re-sellers before they could get on the open market for long, or there just wasn't anyone around willing to do it.
I had this happen to me. I had made Potion of Major Negation available for 25pp a pop (I figure I'm on a PVP server so even at 500% mark-up people would buy them) and then some guy comes up and buys like 4-8 stacks I had in stock at that price and put them up for 40pp a pop. Naturally I made more and put my price up to 35pp made alot more pp that way.

Hey its a PVP server, even the economy is PVP

Eppaulettes of Eternity... I had it on the second day of SoF release and priced it reasonably considering they dropped off a fairly easy mob in Dragonscale.

Someone bought it right away and listed it for heart attack inducing 200k. He still has yet to sell it and hasn't come down in price even though there's about a dozen seller offering for less. Sometimes a reseller can go wrong on what looks like uber new expansion item without knowing it's true rarity.

Also someone is STILL buying cheap metallic drake scales and glosse drake hides on Maelin and reselling it high. His inventory count keeps increasing. I'd bet my entire savings in plats (almost 3 million currently) the seller is chinese who doesn't know english and never knew those are obsolete and vendor junk.

People buy me out and resell stuff all the time, potions quite often since I usually sell fairly low. I don't get into price wars with undercutters though. I have my minimum prices and won't lower them just to sell them out. I'd rather just store them on my trader and use them as needed rather or hand them out to a friend or guildy in need than make, say, 5 gold profit per dose, or just wait out the low price seller.

I never put out fewer than 100 of a single type though and usually 300-400 if they are especially popular, (skinspikes VI and sow V for instance), and play the "economics of scale" game. I will usually come home from work and find that I've profited a few k and I'm happy with that. If someone wants to buy me out and sell them higher, and it happens, I'm cool with it. If they jack the price up it just makes the rest of us look better and people will wait for me and others that price in the same range to log in and then they will pay me a visit and stock up.
