If it bothers you so much for someone to buy, markup, and resell, then don't sell in bazaar mode while afk. Just stand there and sell your wares in /auction. *shrug* Its really your only option other than not selling if it bothers you.

Nope, not selling in afk isn't my only option. I can flood the market like I mentioned. Resellers should be knowledgable about the market and merchandise they buy. A good reseller will know not to buy and mark up things easily made with tradeskills. Items that have rarely dropped ingredients or dropped items are ready fodder for them. Think of my tactic as weeding out the dumb resellers.

Now I'm just hoping that all those folks who have tried to monopolize the metallic drake scale market and driven up prices (doubled since the cultural changes were announced) miss the cultural change patch and find themselves eating the cost.

I've also had my time with the reseller. Someone bought up all the radiant crystals including a few thousands from me and marked them up almost 10pp more than my sell price. But when I checked my buyer I had picked up several thousands to unload and xfered almost all of them to my trader and started selling at my old price.
The reseller came and cleaned me out again half an hour later. I gave the rest of my stockpile to my trader. Same old price. This time I got a nasty tell from the reseller. He earned a 1 week vacation for using 3 letter F words (rhymes with bag) rather excessively. When he was back, bazaar was flodded with some 25,000 radiant crystals selling less than my old price. Guess who lost?
Not keeping track of market's long term pattern, and bad mouthing other player could hurt resellers more.
Most of the time long time resellers simply say nothing and keep their price overinflated for that one silm chance the seller would have only 1 in bazaar and someone with lots of plats to spend.Grolyn Blacknife

If you are going to resell, you need the money and bag space to back it up. The local radiant crystal reseller on Prexus wouldn't flinch at 25k RC's. But, If you are not prepared to go for the long game, you can still make money by jumping markets often. Personally, I mostly got out of the reselling game, I find it much more profitable to "resell" with a tradeskill combine thrown in (e.g. buy up the bazu steel market, but sell bazu seals). That way I don't have to compete with my suppliers in the same marketplace.

Ah yes the barter, sometimes they don't check very carefully. There was someone paying 26pp for radiant crystals for a few days. Yesterday evening, a trader had 30k crystals for 23pp each so I made easy 8k for a few minutes of my time. The barter happens to be a reseller so he'd be hard pressed to make any money when a big competitior is cheaper.Grolyn Blacknife

[QUOTE=Moonunit;206260LOL, if this was me, I'd spend a vengeful night making about 3,000 potions and put them out in batches of 500. By the third or fourth batch, your reseller would have stopped.[/QUOTE]
Well, I don't have the resources to do quite THAT much, but I did end up with around 300 of four different types of potions, each one undercutting the same reseller on all markets by at LEAST 2.5pp/ea, and far more in some (Regeneration VI, for example, my price was 12.5pp/ea... next highest seller is 50pp/ea... then there was one for 500pp/ea, and I *HOPE* that was only a typo, for a potion which cost around 8-9pp/ea in vendored components...)
In short, my bazaar twink made me close to 10k in one week just on these potions, due in large part because of the reseller. In fact, I /ooc'd one night
/ooc Wow, my potions are pretty popular. I'll be right back in a half hour with more SoW V, Regen VI, Skinspikes VI, Shrink, and Levi potions! A big thank you to the reseller <him> for a) buying all my stuff so I can make even more and compete with you in volume as well as price, and b) for selling his potions at outragous prices and making mine even more reasonable looking!
When I came back, I had half a dozen tells from guys thanking me for competing with the reseller, and several /ooc comments while I was heading to PoK concerning resellers and praising my competition with them. And two order requests for custom job prices. Sometimes, sticking it to the reseller can be such a boon to business...
I went from 2k, to about 10k, in one week. Considering how low I started out with, that's not bad

How would you feel if another person started selling them at 8pp while /ooc-ing "<your name> has always been highly overpriced! potions now selling at real reasonable prices!" ?
There's always someone out there willing to sell cheaper and give buyers a better deal. I hope that when you get some competition, that they will just sell their items for what they consider fair and be happy with it. Without the need to drag your name into /ooc to tell everyone how bad your prices are because they decided to sell m cheaper.Dutchy Blackrose < Midnite Council of the Black Rose >

I donno. some yahoo on Tribunal keeps buying up every blue diamond in the bazaar and reselling them at 900p.
The price is more than half again what the average price was 2 months ago.
Resellers drive up prices.

Some yahoo on Prexus did the same thing... So I kept selling more and more just under his price and eventually some friends and I took over the market and ran the price up to 1k. And yes they sell at those prices. It's not resellers alone who drive up prices, without buyers who are willing to pay the higher prices all you will do is fill your bags. If you price at 600 and someone buys you out.. might as well try 650. If they are gone a day later at 650..time to try 750, and so on. If you can sell them quickly at 900-1k (remembering that most blue diamond buyers want at least a stack), why not buy from the people who are selling below your price?

One of my economic rules of Everquest.
The price you see in demand goods for in the bazaar is usually the price they aren't selling for.
Bobaten is exactly right. If there arent buyers willing to pay the "inflated" prices, the price will drop.
I cant speak from experience in blue diamond jewelcrafting since I made that solstice robe part (dont remember the name offhand) to max JC'ing, but from watching blue diamond prices for AAAAs (before that market went poof) I had much better luck vendor diving for them. Granted, my needs in terms of raw number of components were lower but if youre truly concerned about a few hundred pp and youre patient and find some good vendor spots, it makes economic sense.Roanne LeFaye

Interesting story. A few months back, I made a batch of Juice of Quellious. Me being me, I ignored yields and ended up with about five times as much juice as I wanted.I didn't have any room to carry them on my main, so I decided to stuff them on my trader until I needed them.
At the time, Juice prices seemed to be about 50pp. I'd seen them as high as 75pp, but there was usually a goodly quantity available at 50-60pp. Since I didn't want to actually sell them, I decided to set the price at 100pp. Naturally, none sold.
Then, about a week ago, I noticed that a couple of stacks of the Juice actually had sold. I was shocked! I'd priced them at double the market rate intentionally, and still they sold. So I checked the market for the Juice, and it turns out that all the cheaper sellers had been bought out. The market price had risen to 100pp each, and mine were selling.
I guess my point is that buyers have a bigger influence on price than we (as sellers) typically give them credit for. In this case, the market was willing to bear double the previous price for this item. Most likely, I'll be making a fresh batch of juice soon; at 100pp each, I'm better off selling them than drinking them.Sir KyrosKrane Sylvanblade
