  • Pottery, Smithing, Tailoring Oh My!!

My first rant ever in this forum . . . . but here it goes . . . 120 imbued emeralds and only 1 skill-up at 260 for pottery!!! To add injury to insult my imbuer hasn't been on for about a month to restock me. Did I mention she is my guildleader. /shiver

Next I hear DON combines are getting nerfed and only 1 bulthar down and maybe 38 or so drakes for my piles of masters and grandmasters components. Oh, and my skills are 240 smith and 252 tailoring. Not a problem, I'll just finish up some acrylia breastplates and other mid-level combines to breach to masters. What!!! Crushed Windstones are nerfed (hopefully and finally fixed on the 18th). Yeah, it's only 2 points, but . . . . it's 2 points!!!

Not sure where I'm going to come up with the estimated 300 bank slots I'm going to need for the products from my gap combines and masters combines. So much for the slow and leisurely skill-up course I planned.

Oh shiola!! Bazu and Discordant Seals being nerfed also!!! Put me out of my misery.

        Ouch...

If it's any consolation... the seals might actually go to an easier path than they currently are. We don't exactly know what's coming with the change, but some things are going to get considerably easier, while others will get a bit tougher.

          Stuff happens.

One day I'd get skillup as normal then another day I'd go through a lot and get nada. I've even had a horrible run with my shammy going through hundred of deepwater ink with no skillup then getting a few with just a few nodding blue lillies.

          RNG is a fickle.

I just wish there was an in game representation of RNG so I can burn it in effigy when I get horrible run. =) Until then all I can use is a ranger since they share the same abbrevation.

Not nerfed, just having the required drops and method changed slightly. And if you read Ngreths thread with regards the changes, if you have the quests already you will still be able to get the books. Ok so you're messed up for having stockpiled stuff you can't use, so sell it to /buyers... (I'm assuming you mean augment components as you don't need to do much for teh armour quest).

Nerfed, not from what I saw, made easier to get the lower end ones (as lets face it, now they are rediculously hard for what you get that hardly anyone bothers, and its a waste of a usually quite expensive AAAA).

So your only misery is not having understood Ngreths information correctly it seems .

It's all about the combines baby, and the skill-ups.

Um, the DON (cultural) recipes ARE changing (aka nerfed), thus the existing DON combines are being nerfed. I heard (aka read) right.

I'm sorry I didn't spell it out in great detail like most of my posts, but then again, this is the "Primal Scream and Random Chatter" forum. I was using the the former, not the latter. My theme was "all these ingredients and not much time to do the combines and skill-up chances before they are worthless." I'm not quite at the point where I make things solely to make a buck and not worry about skilling up, well, maybe in jewelry possibly. I digress now.

BTW, knocked out my Master's Book quest and flew through my tailoring skill-ups, to include gap combines. Now on to smithing. I sure hope it's a couple more weeks until they implement this change, but highly doubt that. My bank space is nearly gone.

My pottery combines are on the sideline now for the foreseeable future. I'm probably going to be burned out for a few weaks after this run.

nerfed = made worse. like compare a nerf bat to a real baseball bat; its not as good for hitting, see? They are not being made worse (necessarily) just different (and possibly even better as the good Mr Ngreth is behind the wheel now)

and also like you I'm hammering out as much as I can with what I have and can get before the changes go in at an unknown date in the future.

Touche, but it's also a matter of perspective. At this point in time, the recipes are being nerfed because of my surplus of ingredients. Once the recipes changes and my surplus is gone, the recipes are no longer nerfed. And no, I'm not a lawyer, just use the term a lot looser.

Ah, but no one made you hang onto and hoard away a ton of supplies either, so technically you nerfed yourself :P (Afterall, this is FAR from the first change to recipes, drops or trivials of live tradeskill materials.) Atleast this change, unlike the tailoring change (solstice robes), has been announced plenty in advance to allow people to have a chance of using things vs ya know... having piles of useless supplies in the bank.

Technically nerf does apply, it depends on the race you are. For Vah Shir, it's probably a nerf since they got the easy smithing and tailoring skillup path right now. But if you're an Iksar, you're getting a big help.

                              Appreciate the top cover Unapuma.

Actually, my good planning to save these components so they would be available in large quantities when I needed them (pat self on back) has been a good thing for me during my tradeskill run. DON recipe change was an unexpected deer that ran into my path.

And by the way all, I wouldn't be sweating bullets nearly this bad accept a personal issue in my family will take away a week from my EQ time from this day forth. Afraid when I get back . . . presto chango screwed.
