  • AFK foraging

I swear some players don't care if they get caught by SOE for using 3rd party macro. When I got lost in Broodland and ended up in another area rather than the zone to Lavastorm, I found 2 toons standing there doing nothing but dropping bags. I managed to pick one of the bag it was a foraged item in the zone.

Neither responded and I even offered 1k plat and clicked trade but other never clicked accept.

Defiantly using macro program to collect forages. if only beastlord got FD skill or spell, I'd drop a nasty train on them. Not that I advocate intentional training but if they are going to break the rules...

No GM were online last I checked so I can't get their attention and if I get petition through, by the time someone checks out the zone those afk foragers would be long gone.

They'd probably still be there, or have moved to a different zone doing the same.

Yep, even though you often can't see immediate results, it is good to get the names in, so that the GMs know to watch for them. (You also never can tell when there's a GM available but not visible.)

Take a screen shot.. jot down the names... then petition. the more complaints SOE has on a player, the more likely they will act.
If your guild has a forum.. post the offenders on a "no-group no-buff" thread. If your guild doesnt have a thread like that. Start it! It would also be a good thread to list Trainers, rude players, scam artists ect.

personally the new petition system really killed any will I ever had of reporting anything.

also now a days id rather report the persons sending me ingame mails with plat offers.

Also while I dont do autoforage. I honestly dont mind it. And I cant really say im the only one that doesnt mind. They fill a usefull and needed role in the game. The fact that i only play on Fv really enforces my belif in this.

Im hoping the new Forage AA for all will sort of help complement the forage econemy.
Note: Due to a hand injury caused by a friend throwing a broken scissor into my hand my typing = crap. So dotn be so critical.

I don't know how many people agree with me on this, but I view auto foraging like I view people who drive 65 in a 55 zone. No, you aren't supposed to do it, and if you get caught, expect to pay the fine, but otherwise it isn't a huge deal. (Please don't anyone start with traffic accident statistics - I have driven enough in Chicago traffic to see what causes the accidents).

While I do not engage in this myself, I don't see this as an infraction that injures the economy or the community.

I would much rather SoE not worry about these guys as much as the MQ cheaters. Kind of like having the cops let the moderate speeders off to spend more time worrying about the DUIs and slalom drivers.

I kill forage-bots and I giggle my *** off each and every time I do it!

I've stumbled upon a group of druid bots at the druid rings in Dreadlands. Had petitioned several times a day for several days running yet the bots continued endlessly creating piles of little brown baggies at their feets. I killed 'em all. I killed 'em all a lot. I killed 'em all some more. They eventually disappeared.

I happened acrosss a group of naked halflings carefully placed in Kael just at the Wakening Lands zone line. Each had the word 'forage' incorporated into the character name. They were all bound there. I made me a truly massive pile of halfling corpses on that day. Hundreds. It was priceless. I laughed til my eyes watered and I began to choke. I rooted one single giant on top of them, and the giant stayed there for hours because as the bots continued to load in, the giants continued to pick them off one at a time. The giant never had a chance to wipe agro and walk back to spawn point. Takes a real idiot to park an army of afk forage-bot at bind points

but cheating monumentally is worse then cheating a tiny bit.

1st) Please do not encourage training. You may be unhappy with these forage-bots and their EULA-breaking activities, but training other players is also against SOE's rules, and we don't allow people to promote that sort of thing here.

2nd) It may be a minor violation (as compared to say, ghost-killing) but I can see some people feel very strongly about it, while others don't comprehend all the fuss, so please respect each other's rights' to have your own opinions. So just a freindly warning before things get out of hand - No Flaming. PSR forum or not, flaming is not tolerated.

                  Thanks folks!

I agree on your stance. However, deliberately training is against the rules as well, and neither I nor too many others probably care if you did what you claim. My point is that SoE and their alleged GM's have a lot greater issues to chase down than this.

As others have said, training is against the rules also. So I find it funny that you would post something that shows you to be a hypocrite.

Perhaps it would be funnier if someone trained you.

imo cheating is cheating. installing a program like macroquest and say you only use it for foraging is (again imo) enough for me to report.
they are using it.. how they use it i dont care about. if i know a player is using it, its going to the /report.

after spending week after week doing real ,at keyboard, foraging for air-infused spring water, it made me so pissed to see those afk bots.

You don't need macroquest to afk forage.

I know of two other ways that have been discussed on this board to do it. I'm not sure they'd want me to name them though.

There might have been more than two, but I just remember two off the top of my head.

Just tought i would add some info:

-Newer keyboards have built in programable keys. Like the logitech G15. Also before the implementation of the /autofire command there was a program that was widely used among rangers. Which only purpose was to mass repeat 1 button. Like the forage button or secondary fire button( this software has been in use for almost as long as eq has). The majority of people I know that do autoforage use 1 one of theese two ways. Point beeing autoforagers dont need and infact unlikely they use macroquest.

-The legal forage community has never been able to satisfy the demand for foraged items. While this might change with the implementation of forage for all which will be implemented trough AAs ( which I have been calling for for years). I still find it unlikely that the legal forage community ever will be able to fully supply the forage market. the demand is just to great.
