  • So sad....

Ok. I just made two Bristlebane's Challenge ... While I was making combines I had Juice of Quellious and Misty thicket Picnics on my first two inventory slots for food. Followed by Bristlebane's Party Platter. I succesfully Made Two Bristlebane's Challenge. I switched out the mtp's to both BB Challenge to update Magelo. I updated ... Took under 1 Minute to update . I return to eq window open bag ..click on sandwhiched to pick them up and move them back to my other slot while i move them one sandwhich disapears and im left with one. I did not a see a message showing that I had eaten it or anything ..it just poofed. Challange sandwhich was in my slot all of 2 mins tops ..prior to that I had two other miraculos stat foods. I would leave it all to just me accidentally eating the food ..but this happend two me on thursday during a raid also. I was in razorthorn ..I had one Bristlebane's challange and a stack of bristlebane's party platter i had platter in my main food slot until we engaged named... about 10 seconds before engage i switched out platter to challange for more stats.. fight last about 2 mins as we wiped ..when i went back to switch food ...to my dismay the challange sandwhich had poofed =/ ...I almost cried .. blamed bad luck on that ..and said well dang now i have to make another one ..well today I did make two more ..and once again it poofs. I don't believe my charecter ate the food because it was hungry.. could someone please look into this ..to see if there is some kind of bug ? ..the first challange i made lasted me months ..now I make 2 and it lasts all of 2 mins ? that just doesnt seem right. I always take the most precautions when using my precious d items.. because it takes so long to make them and so much farming and so much PP .

has anyone else had something like this happen ?

im so sad i don't think chocolate and a full set of Dp gear would cheer me up =/ lol

When your food timer is up you eat whatever is in the top slot. There's no message when you eat food normally. You just got unlucky twice.

Suggestion... force feed yourself with something thats miraculous and cheap (MTP) right before you swap your BC in. That gives you a nice long couple hours before you're in a situation where you might accidently eat it.

my first thought was "ouch, hope next time you force-feed"

though I have wondered if it's better to force-feed miraculous stuff or the smaller stuff like rations / cake slices ...

I mean is the "so full you can't eat" a hard number or a soft number ...

say you can have consumed at most 1000 food units before being stuffed...

if you eat two 400 unit Picnics are you then unable to eat a third (as the third would put you over the 1000 limit)

but could you then eat three 55 unit birthday cake slices and be unable to chew through a fourth slice ?

or could you eat 3 picnics and be at 1200 and unable to eat ANYTHING until you fell to 999 at which time you could eat another full picnic and be at 1399 ?

guess there are some mysteries of the game we probably won't ever completely know ...

I'm pretty sure someone decoded the food/drink system quite thoroughly at some point. Try searching the archives if you're interested; I remember someone explaining it quite well. Largely as a result of that post, the item database people (Lucy, EQItems, Magelo) were able to decode the item stat that determines the food value, down to the minute.

          durations are known

the quote "forced food lasts half as long" is known

but the "you are stuffed" numbers aren't, and appear to vary by race

ditto food comsumption rate by race (kittys eat "twice as fast" but there seems to be some difference human/dark elf/hobbit as well)

and the hard / soft style of the limit is fuzzy

I know, because I attempted to nail it down back in the days before Gates of Discord on my dark elf, and lost patience with the project well before it was complete.

Not really any need to risk it though.... MTP's are dirt cheap.

one thing that I do to prevent this from happening is my food and drink are ALWAYS the top slots in my first bag. I know that a lot of my friends do not do this, but I lost a rabbit stew or some such way back in the shawl quest and did not want to do that again.

yeah MTP are cheap (i use them and Qeynos Tea as my food / drink for everything, it's just easy to carry a stack of each in top slots in my top bag and be done)

what i meant is "I wonder if you could get more cushion if you gorged on lower duration foods instead of higher duration ones, i.e. using rations / summoned bread instead of MTP to stuff"

I THINK its the same, but if there WAS a difference I should think it would likely be less gorged not more.

I was thinking about it being coded as a counter though. IE... eating sets a counter and you don't need to eat again until that counter runs out. Then eating something small might put you just a small amount above the "you can't eat no more" threshold while eating something big would put you WAY above the "you can't eat no more" (I made that up) threshold.

Thats the way I would have coded it but who knows.

In that event, you'd probably get the longest effect from stuffing yourself full of storebought snacks (muffins, maybe?) and then keep trying to eat an MTP until you successfully eat it. Should put you as far above the full mark as is viable.

I suppose it all depends on how much it's worth to you. I've had 6 BPPs in the bank for a couple of years now. The earring is no longer an upgrade...so I should just use them for stat food, but I don't know that I can bring myself to eat them (I'm not elemental flagged, so it was kind of a pain to get the components.) And I *KNOW* that I'll never remember to force-feed.
