  • Bright side note of the day

Ok instead of posting something bad happening, im going to post a good thing.

As a full time raider, full time parent of 4 children and a tradeskill addict to boot my "free" time is seldom free or even a real amount of time. The other day a long time friend won a bazu stone on his guild raid. He asked me for the name of someone to make an AAAA for him (after 7 years on my server i know a large number of folks). I did a quick search of the usual suspects and my main supplier of finished AAAAs was out to dinner, so i broke into my personal use stash and gave him my last AAAA token on loan. 2 days later after about 100 questions he send me a tell saying i have your token to return meet me at the bank. I get to the bank and he hands me a bag, inside of which sits 1 token, 10bolts, 5 shadowname pelts, a few diamonds/BD and 120 finished steel plate of assorted sizes.

I tell him that thats enough to make 2 more and he says "i know, but i cant make them and i know now that you will have one when i need another one"

This is the kind of thing that makes my day, he took his time and his effort to collect parts and refine the steel (oh how i hate that part). As a friend i would never have asked for more than replacement of the token or parts to get both was a blessing.

Ooh, that's very sweet of him. It's rare that you find people sensitve enough to realize tradeskills take time and effort beyond a single click to make an item -- especially with something as complex as an AAAA.

Getting a day like that is awesome.

I had had a pretty foul weekend (fiancee was out of town BASE jumping where there was a fatality and I could not get a hold of her for hours till late in the evening to fnd out she was ok, I was sick, my parents were in sunny Florida on vacation, it was miserable weather outside). To make matters worse I had a terrible day in EQ, highlighted by some rude youngster trying to play me for a fool by using muli-toons to buy stuff. When I figured him out he started blustering about reporting me and having me banned, at turns playing the victim and inventing a legion of illnesses he's suffered from to invoke pity. (If you play on Cazic Thule, shoot me a tell and I'll let you know who NOT to do bsiness with, snicker.)

I was ready to log off EQ, stop tradeskilling for a few months and shoot at cars from an overpass till the ammo or whiskey ran out.

With both the liquor store and the hardware store closed (what is up with Pennsylvania on Sundays!?!?!) I thought I would just do some relaxing fishing in an out of the way place in EQ. I showered up, made a cup of my favorite tea, summoned my dachshund to my lap for mutual adoration and logged on.

About 8 seconds after I log in I get a tell from a semi-regular customer, "Are you making stuff today? I need 6 GM augs."

"Not really. I am off fishing and relaxing." Whereupon I tell the tale of getting run around in the bazaar.

      About 30 minutes go by.

/poke Squeaky. Its my customer, he tracked me down.

Sigh, I told this guy I am not tradeskilling today.

"How many inventory slots you have open?"

Grumble, I have about 40 slots free, why?

He passes 300 bait, 300 short ale, a stack of GDHs, a stack of diety waters (his diety), a stack of purescale ore in my trade window and clicks TRADE.

"Ok, Huck Finn, when they stop biting I need augs. Keep the rest."

      And he gates.

So I got drunk in Gulf of Gunthak, fell in the water. Fished the rest of the bait, went to PoK and made the augs. The day ended with a thank you and a smile.
