Bone Chip Madness In Recent Days

What has happened?

On Cazic, two nights ago, I noted 2-3 Buyers buying unlimited quantities of bone chips for "a guild event"/

I logged on last night and a fellow was buying "as many bone chips as you can furnish, 5pp/chip".

Tonight I saw two vendors sell out of 5k+ of chips in 5 minutes, selling them at 10-15pp/chip.

Somehting seems fishy, as if there is an exp exploit somewhere. Any one heard/seen anyhting akin to this or can provide more insight?

Might have something to do with thisSpell: Dark Assassin it uses bone chips and I think the Vellum is dropping pretty good now. Wish I could get there to get some...alas only 50.../sniff.

Ahha a clue it is in N.Kali could be a discrepancy in the bone chip quest in the Pali Guild??? Naw cant be.

It could be shrouding down to a low level and getting tons of AAxp with one of those quests... no clue though.

I wouldn't doubt that at all.
It was always known that when someone shrouded down far enough and did enough faction quests that they could get proper faction- they could get Exp via the bone chip quest.

This was a way some folks were selling guaranteed AA exps- should have been locked out to the shrouded though.

Quest is meant for player toons not shrouds.

Okay I went to the North Kaladim guy with my 68 wiz. AA exp set at 100%. Bar did not move with over 100 bone chips given 4 at a time in the quest. So them I shrouded down to a level 5 rogue and gave 160 bone chips 4 at a time. No exp on the shroud and no AA exp when I changed back to my level 68 wiz. I can't figure out the exploit if there is one. I must be too dumb.

I used to buyout the bazaar daily. I'm a faction nut and I was busy maxing Cabilis faction and there were also three or four other factions that you could raise with bone chips (Qeynos clerics and dwarf clerics for example). There was no exploit there, just me wasting time in one of the many ways that EQ allows.

However, I wouldn't pay over 2pp each for them and there never was anyone else buying the things in bulk. What was described in the posts above does sound a bit suspicious.

There used to be a vendor in Kithicor that sold unlimited rat whiskers. I raised my factions to max ally in all cities I wasn't already KoS to.

Sadly the vendor has since been nerfed.

I know the exploit, and let me say it's incredibly gamebreaking if it stays in the game. I've bugged it and PM'd like all the devs to make sure it'll get fixed by Monday. The downfall is I'll probably be rolled back because I actually did it (out of sheer curiosity really), but that's the way the cookie crumbles I guess.

And no, I won't explain how it works so don't ask.

I petitioned it and got a fast Gm response from Live CS.

After I mentioned to two friends that I had "snitched" I got a ton of hate tells about being a narc.

Can't win for freakin' losing these days.

Well for what it's worth, I wholeheartedly think you did the right decision. I know GMs have finally caught sight of this so hopefully it'll be gone soon. Unfortunately it might require a patch to truly fix.

Btw I'd have put quotes around the "friends" you mention there, too....
