  • Health Problems In Everquest

Recently I have noticed a change in health of my 74 paladin.

I was constantly the last to arrive at camps, it was taking longer to zone and I was experiencing embarassing LD problems.

Since my regular hunting partners were off today I went to the Ak'anon Clinic to see my regular doctor.

I described my symptoms briefly and Doctor Tinker-Finger made a concerned sound in his throat.

DT-F: What is your activity level?
Me: A few hours of hunting each day. Maybe 4-5 hours at most.
DT-F: And what is the nature of this hunting? Any kiting?
Me: No, mostly stand up fights, stationary camps.
DT-F: Hmmm, sedentary. Do you sit down or stand to med/regen.
Me: Well...I sit most of the time.
DT-F: Hmmm, how do you get to most of your camps?
ME: Uh...well the druid ports us then...
DT-F: Tcha. Take the closest port to the zone?
    Me: Well, yeah I mean....
    DT-F: And after hunting?
Me: A little shopping then some quality time in the Guild Hot Tub.
DT-F: Hmmph. What is your usual diet? What do you carry in your backpack?
Me: Misty Thicket Picnics and Grobb Liquidised Meat.
(As the words rolled off my chubby tongue I could sense his alarm.)
    DT-F: Any desserts?
    Me: Planar fruit pies.
DT-F: (Sighing deeply.) What is your Cholesterol Resist?
ME: Uh, I am not sure.
(Turns out it was like 85.)
DT-F: Eighty five Cholesterol Resist and you are eating those Dietary DoTs.
Me: Well those McMTPS are just so easy. I mean every corner I am on they are almost giving them away. You can't walk past a Master Baker without them giving me a super-size stack of them.
    DT-F: Any other problems?
Me: Well, I am almost embarassed to mention it but...
DT-F: Problems with...(he raised an eye brow, knowinlgy)
Me: I don't seem to be proccing as much as I used to. I mean I would proc a few times every fight and now I am lucky if I proc once a week. Its embarassing.
DT-F: Hmmm.Well, I think that we can help you but it will take some committment.

    His reccomendations:

Better Diet: No McMTPs. I was given a mixing bowl and the recipe to make my own Vegetables. No Grobb Liquidised Meat. Soda Water only.
Increased Exercise: Fewer ports, PoK books. More running. More kiting. No sitting to med. Run from EFP to Qeynos 3 times/week carrying Trader's Satchels.

Its a tough diagnosis and I can see the merits of it.
I hope that EQTraders.com and Sony will begin putting dietary information in the links/item tags to show calories, carbs and cholesterol. I am glad I caught this early in my career, for some tanks it did not come soon enough.
