• **Warning** On : Could not insert new word matches.

If you get this error, there seems to be a very good chance that your post will actually show up.

Everyone, including myself, has been pressing the back button, and attempting to resubmit, causing double, triple or more posts.

What to do if you get the error:

Copy your post into notepad, wait 1 minute, refresh your browser and go back into the topic.

If you do not see your post, then try posting it again.

Also don't look for your name on the title of the post, or anywhere else outside the post to indicate your post showed up. You actually have to click on the post to see it.

Hope this stops some of the spam, and sorry for having caused some of it.

P.S. Hope this gets fixed soon, when people error out you will never know they replied to your post without looking back at it

(sorry just hijacking since your post is first)
We are sorry for this mess. I am trying to get the phpBB folks to help, but since it is a FREE BB and they are not paid, sometimes response s not the greatest.
We are working it as fast as we can.
    Thanks

I put forward the motion that this one is made a sticky till the problem is fixed.

That @#$% message came up after EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY POSTS THIS EVENING.

I don't hold it against DenMom or the moderators or even the folks responsible for these boards - it just REALLY got to me this time around.

/em takes a few deep breaths
    /em counts down from 10

Ahh, ok, better - good night all.

For those of us that it decides to destroy posts on hitting the "Back" button, you can also just wait at the "General Error" page, and hit "Refresh/Reload" at the point where you would normally submit the post.

It seems variable as to whether the post gets made (made more difficult by the posts-not-showing-up, see Cantatus' writeup on Fist of Death). I've done "Post once, get error, forget it" twice, and the post has not arrived. "Post once, General error, reload until Too many posts, forget it" and it got posted, eventually. When I've kept reloading, that's when I've gotten a gazzillion

Edit - well, this one was a "General Error, forget it" post, and it showed up ... so, uh, ignore my little dwarvish ramblings ... I'm just confused. :?

        just got the error

just got the 'general error' and this was my post in another thread:

        [code:1]
This thread reminds me of the statement 'I am determined to live forever, or die trying'. :D

There are also the Darwin awards for people who improve the human race by removing themselves from the gene pool.

My favorite Darwin award is the lawyer who wanted to impress articling law students of the strength of the plate glass in a Toronto high-rise office complex. With astonished students as an audience, this fellow took a long run down a corridor and hurtled himself against the plate glass window. A few seconds later there was an unpleasant splat on the pavement below.

        Thicket
I lived in Toronto at the time and worked not far from the office where that happened. All of a sudden there were sirens and such, and the next day when I heard what had happened, while sad for his family one of my immediate thoughts was “Darwin awards – this is definitely a candidate, if not a sure winner!” Feh, warped sense of humour
        [/code:1]

First I pressed preview, then submit, and that's when i got the error.

Just got the error with the above post again, lol

This time I had not previewed before submitting, fyi.

Hope this helps to troubleshoot what's happening, if I get another error with THIS post I am not posting another message, or it could go on forever :lol

Ok, one more observation to help with troubleshooting…a possible clue:

the above 2nd of my posts did NOT give me an error, and I notice that with my first two posts that got errors, I had changed the subject line from the blank/pre-filled subject, but on the last one I had left subject line blank…

            hope this helps

              Ngreth...

Is the spell checker trying to add words to its dictionary from the spellings in people's posts?

Because that is what it looks like to me....

Sigh, the other evening's "patch" didn't seem to work - it's doing it to me on every message now whether it's a 100% original message or a cut and paste with quotes.

Now it won't even let me edit messages - it keeps giving me this -

(Not ranting, just letting the mods know what's happening.)

As a possible productive observation, I did notice that at the top of the page where it notes who's in a particular forum, it did not acknowledge my presence here.

Additionally, it wouldn't even let me post a new topic - kept giving me the old message.

The most recent fix seems to have worked, so I don't think this needs to be sticky anymore.

Just hope next time I get an error I'll take my own advice and verify it didn't post before accidentially spamming

Thanks for all the hard work on the site guys.
