  • Cheapskate offers...

Every now and then someone sends my trader a tell their best offer for things I'm selling. Sometimes it's decent, sometimes it was a bit low. And often it goes unanswered because I'm afk. When I'm at the keyboard I do get decent deal after a bit of haggling if the offer isn't reasonable right away.

Yesterday I got one cheapskate offer for an 8k item I had, the only seller in bazaar, his best offer was 500. As seeing there were a few /buyer offering a lot more than 500, I thought it was dumb offer. So out of spite I raised that to 10k and never replied.

A few hours later same person offers 750pp and I changed my price to 12k. I am sure it's not a case of clueless or poor buyer as this person in trader mode has several metallic drake scales, a few new PoR bows, etc probably 2 million plats worth if all sold at once.

    My ignore list grows longer.

    I've had the same:
200PP for brazier of elemental summoning
8K for scimitar of the mistwalker (sold it finally for 80K and man do I regret that now as I would love to have it back for personal use)

Actually, you'd be surprised how many people don't actually check the prices on loot. Though his offers are an extreme low for those items, it's also how you make a considerable amount of plat in the bazaar for minimal work.

Nah he was just one of the zillion victims of Maelin's idiotic economy, perpetuated by n00bs and the like who populate the server. I played around in the bazaar for eons being curious and toying with idiots like those. Then again my attention to /ooc's has netted me many aug sales

I assume we can ignore the relentless requests for free stuff (the GM Metalofiber Wrist and the first Harmonagate Neck on CT were the most outrageous requests for freebies). Yes, they were really expecting it for free.

1k offer for coarse spider silk is probably the funniest of all I have seen.

lol those freebies are annoying. I've had many requests for those as well because people claimed to get hacked, lost their corpse, deleted the toon carrying all their plat, etc. Think the worst offer I ever had started out the same way, a lvl 70 shaman offered me 1300pp for my doomscorn shield (100Kish at that time) because he was ungeared and "really needed it" and I would have plenty of other stuff left to sell.
worst freebie request I ever had was a lvl 20-ish warrior who expected me to just give him 150Kpp so he could go buy a BoC.....

Overall, most of the really low offers I get are on the high end tradeskill items. People don't understand why I'm selling magnetic BP's at 7K and the charged version with just a bit better stats at 80K, or why I'm charging 1-2K for a master's BP and 100-120K for the grandmaster version.
They simply look at the stats only and don't realize the difference in component costs. Explaining to them what it takes to create these items usually helps them understand.

/afk really not here atm. spamming "are you there?" 20 times in a row will not get me back at the keys any faster =P

I did have my fun with a level 3 monk begging for money. I gave him 100 plats... in copper (100k copper to be exact) This was in PoK and he wasn't close to a bank so he was stuck there. He was reduced to begging for buffs so he could move.

I must remember to use that to get rid of persistient spammer trying to buy my shissar scales for almost 1/10th of the typical bazaar prices.
