  • My Beginner's Magic Manual is going to be obsolete. ;)

No, no, no - they aren't gonna nerf the thing - stats, quest, etc are all still the same.

I've actually found myself in a funny situation - I had picked the thing up to boost my INT for my drive to GMing baking. I'm now not all that far from being able to take a shot at my GM trophy and my plat is good enough that unless I have horribly bad luck, I should pull it off without issue.

However, I find that I've apparently equiped myself TOO well - with a MOSS in my primary and a Stien of Magok in my off hand, the +10 INT from the trophy is easily better than the +6 from the Beginner's Magic Manual.

Not so much a rant as simply an odd and slightly entertaining situation to find myself. So anyone else find that thier long term investments have been foiled by thier own resourcefulness and efficiency?

I usually take the manual out when charm soloing in favor of my new Ceramic Skull of Decay, but as soon as I'm able, I plan on upgrading it to the Intermediate and Advanced magic manuals.....

      Hehheh

Kind of the same boat here. I was happily at 255 Int with my main hand free and no buffs. Then I upgraded to a Bracelet of Comprehension that I snagged in the bazaar for about 1/2 off. Suddenly I had 10 extra Int. I then lvled up and got my new +int buff as well. So I have been going through and upgrading/swapping gear to get my resists up. Tal Zek is a cruel place if you have bad resists. /shudder

It's funny how quickly the days when you can't imagine how much work it will take to even get to 255 wisdom are followed by the days you begin taking things off because you are paranoid too much wisdom is messing up your skill ups.

When I get Nordiran's magelo full up to date I'll post it here, I've got your standard wisdom gear, with almost 255 wisdom before KEI and AA's still dozens of levels in my future.

Not many 45 druids with my stats, I doubt, unless they are other tradeskillers!

With no Stat food/drink, and no KEI, Noishpa sits at 238 WIS. Using a geerlok lowers that to 233. Since level 30. With Stat food/drink and no KEI, I can hit 248.

Show me another level 30 character, without a higher level "main", who can do that, and put 60-80k in the bank. I totally see where Wyrdlan is coming from, and I feel the same sense of accomplishment that I imagine he does.

I'd like to see Nord's magelo, and compare it to Gwen's

Oh, and it's Gwen (lvl 40) that twinks Ilona (lvl 53) now

This isn't quite right but it'll do for comparison purposes:

By the way, this gear is arranged so I have 254 WIS with KEI, without the food. I sold off the arms I had in favor of the ES arms for the click DOT once I no longer needed to swap in the other arms for wisdom.

I'd been happy with my main/second/range slots for str and wis. I had my Centi LS (8str) and cracked darkwood shield (8str). For wis I Soulfire (7wis, 2hander), and range was Grandmaster's Hammer (10str 10wis).

In the span of a week, I get a 12wis shield in Kael (forget the name), then help a friend with getting a cloak from the Kith DEs, and getting the 6wis mace. Remembering that the GM Hammer isn't ammo only, I wap out the centi or darkwood, and place a Gordan's Idol in the range (12str). While purchasing underpriced BDs, I find he also is selling a 500pp interestingly named mace, which is 12str and 8wis (rec lvl 53, I'm 52, but it doesn't touch those stats). So I buy it ... and all 3 'hand' slots of my original str and wis gear is toasted in less than a week after having served me faithfully for ages. (The cracked darkwood shield was my upgrade from Shiny Brass Shield, and was the last shield I ever used in combat. The Centi LS was bought when Luclin was rather new, and prices still fluxuated. Soulfire was gotten ~lvl 40).

Ye served me well, and shall be missed.

I spent DKP (A *lot* of DKP) on the XTC hammer at 209 smithing, and I GM'd less than 3 weeks later. Oops.
