  • Almost made a quick 200k over buyer error

It's not everyday you find a buyer in bazaar offering an insane price. Just a few min ago I spotted someone buying BD's for 3500 pp Obviously an error probably by hitting extra zero. (too much caffine is my guess )

After I grabbed my stockpile of BDs (almost 60 total) I rechecked the buy line, the number he was buying went down signigifiantly so someone managed to sell a few but by the time I got to him he had either bought all the desired quanity or he delisted the BD's.

Darn, missing an easy 200k opportunity. Back to buyer mode but I'm watching him like a hawk.

Any of you got an unusual or interesting buyer story? Post here!

He may have ran out of money. Most people wouldn't have that much money on them unless also buying some bigger ticket items.

Personally, I think it's pretty crummy to take advantage of someone's innocent mistake that way. I wonder if anyone sent him a tell asking if that's what he really meant.

Yeah, whenever I see someone misprice an item on trader, I always grab it, and then send a tell to see if they mispriced it. Then if they did misprice it, I return it and sometimes they give me some plat

Once I saw a Wand of the Fateseeker for 3k (instead of 13k), and then I sent a person a tell asking if they made a pricing mistake. Then the person gave me 6k instead of 3k back for it

I just love when one of those pricing errors happen to someone that was trying to udercut/outbid me, serve them right... I tend to double check my prices, sold a few items at 10% of cost, but oh well..

Oh yes, players who goof when arranging their barter prices are quite amusing. So are the ones who goof up when setting their bazaar prices. Not too long ago, I discovered a bazaar seller who was offering two copies of Blade Of Walnan for sale - for 20 platinum pieces each. NOT the summoned blades, the actual spell! Needless to say, I bought both of them. I'm really inclined to think he goofed as he was selling various other level 61 and 62 spells in the 1500-2000 platinum piece range.

The thing is, I remained online for quite some time to see if he would get in touch with me saying that he had made a mistake in setting that price, but I never heard from him.

Nobody came running back to me asking if the Crushed Diamond Dust I had for sale for 25p was a mistake. That {rascal}.

Specially when the buyer mode was new I could have pulled some decent profits of others mistakes, most of them included people who wanted to trade their single item for a bunch of DoN crystals.
Purchased about 30 items total for the cost of 1 radiant crystal, items included cobalt breastplates, metallic drake scales, WoS named drops, etc.
prior to grabbing the items I did send the buyer a tell about their mistake, and after purchasing left each and every one of them a tell and a mail that they could contact me to trade the items back. If the buyer did not get back to me within a week, I kept the items.

Last time a buyer gave me a good laugh was someone picking up crystals in buyer mode and reselling for more later. Bought radiant crystals at say 70pp, ebons at 80pp, but also offered to trade his ebon crystals for radiants LOL.
Gotta love those folks, trade all radiants for his ebons first, than sell him his own ebon crystals back =) few days later he was complaining in ooc that people were "abusing" his trade lines rofl.

I remember that issue when Barter went live some people didn't realize you could only "buy" one item regardless of the number it's set. The number is for the quanity to buy. ie got rare item X and you wanted to trade it for 10,000 radiant crystal, you'd set the buy line offering to "buy" the crystals in exchange for the rare item X you have, set to 10,000 and to anyone searching they'd see you have 10,000 rare item X that are being offered for one rad crystal EACH.

Quite a few angry /ooc the first few weeks and some may have left the game for good. It was an easy mistake to make since barter isn't meant to buy multiple item for one offer, only one item per offer.

There is still this issue with barter that if you left the windows at default size you don't see the price the buyer is offering and you may inadverantly sell rad crystals for only 25pp each when the buyer has multiple buy lines from 25pp to 100pp and a number of buyers do have multiple buy lines with different price on each ones.

Best day I had was someone in barter offering 350p each for normal Diamonds and Blue Diamonds. That day I vendor farmmed PoK dry! At the end I was able to purchase two new Leatherfoot Backpacks and STILL had 30k in plat left over to work my own trade skills!

Normally it's rare for people to even offer purchasing normal Diamonds, but one offering more then you could normally purchase them is even rarrer! Was a rather nice day, all in all!

One morning I set up a buy line for Plains Pebbles, I wanted 500 of them and was willing to offer 10pp each. I head to work for the day, come home and I have 10 pebbles and I'm 5k poorer

Yeah for putting the values in the wrong place!

I got a big chuckle out of that pre-coffee error.

When you're setting plat values for your Trader, the box starts out empty. Want to sell your MDS for 23k, you click the plat box and type 2 3 0 0 0. Easy.

I bought Metallic Drake Scales for 120k.

I was broke, I just got lucky enough to make a cultural sale shortly thereafter, or I would have been in some trouble.

I remember seeing someone in trader mode offering to buy 300 Underfoot Mushrooms and 300 Strange Dark Fungus at like 10p each. I had about 200 left over Underfoot Mushrooms since each harvest yeilds 10 of them as opposed to only 7 Strange Fungii. I suspect he was hoping to get an even amount of each.
