    Uh...

You didn't lose any actual skill points.
You can still make lots and lots of potions.
Bottles for Thrown Potions existed before this revamp.
There is a huge amount of information on this site about the new potions.

Tell me, did you "discover" all the old potions yourself? Did you figure them all out without any help?

Yes, some potions will require you to jump through some hoops you didn't have to before... but the new system allows for a better balance.

Plus... you really don't need to "learn" any recipies you don't intend to make.

I'm pretty sure that I saw somewhere that at least some potions are going to be autolearned after the 3/14 patch. My guess, is that Ngreth wanted everybody to have a chance to discover all the new recipes on their own (since it's something that many tradeskillers enjoy doing) and will be adding some recipes back to autolearn in the recipe UI soon...possibly only as they are discovered or somesuch though. My advice, wait till after the 3/14 patch before you start complaining.

Also, having to do combines by hand, once, is not a big deal. Remember when you had to do them all by hand? I used to have a big stack of printouts from this website with most of the recipes that I might want to make and didn't get rid of that until I could do windowed mode to window out to check the website here.

So what if you have to relearn recipes. The new potions are much more ballanced, including a not terribly expensive way to skillup. Stat potions that look like they'll have a market (the old ones I never made other than for skillups and resists), an improved sow potion, stackability so it saves inventory space...etc etc etc. Give it a chance at least before you smack it down. Especially give it til a bit after the 3/14 patch when a lot of the bugs that didn't get caught in beta will be fixed.

Just addressing the "needing to learn again"

It was a mistake, but a different kind of mistake

I thought you guys *LIKED* discovery. Liked it to the point where having to "relearn" what you had already done was a bonus, not a "punishment"

        I was wrong.

I have learned and will not make the same mistake in the future, people do not like "re-discovery." That was more a mistake in interpreting what the community would like, than anything else.

The extra steps... Well they were there for the formed and the spheres already, I just added it for the base, because I thought it was a reasonable change in consistency. That is a specific decision that I am not particularly sorry for. Like I said, it is more consistent.
