Cazic-Thule Tribune:
In an apparent tradeskill-gone-wrong scenario on early Saturday AM, Master Jeweler Squeaky Toy's corpse was found in the Cazic-Thule bazaar. Known amongst some of the seedier venues of the CT server, details are still sketchy at this time.
Necro-Forensics state that the tradeskiller was seen with several "traders of ill repute" and that IP addresses have been logged and checked. IGE stated that "although it had traders in the bazaar, no-one from IGE has any light to shed on the matter" but they would offer a 10% bereavement discount on all platinum purchases over 150k.
Sir Lucan D'Lere (who acts as adviser for the weekly show EQPD Blue: Online Gaming Unit) theorizes that "a series of fizzled combines or a salvage failure may have led to the murder." He added, "the bazaar is no longer safe, anyone doing combines there is just asking for trouble. Right after the server merge things started to change on Cazic-Thule."
This is not the first time a gamer has been killed in Everquest. A rash of high elf disappearances occured just after the introduction of Dragons of Norrath when cultural gear was first introduced. (The disappearance of the four gnomes last month was solved when it was discovered that they had in fact fallen into a crack in the pavement in PoK.) Patricia Cornwell has theorized in her book Jack the Ripper: Case Closed that the crux of the Whitechapel murders was based on a game of Chutes & Ladders gone horribly wrong.
In hopes of preventing future instances of this horrible crime we offer the following advice.
1) Always travel in groups and with a rezzer.
2) Do not combine for strangers.
3) Never enter and instanced zone with a stranger.
4) Do not carry large amounts of platinum or expensive/rare tradeskill materials.
5) Trust your instincts. If a customer asks you to change illusion, wants you to shrink/grow, wear certain fetish robes get out immediately.
6) Always leave information about where you go and who you are with.
7) If you are attacked use /ooc, /shout and /yell. Do not rely on a GM, it may take weeks.
In closing, protect yourself and be aware of your surroundings. Anyone having information about this unfortunate event please contact Grimwood Global Megatech, the parent company of Squeaky-Mart, Squeaky's Secret and Squeaky's Wholesale Gnomish Gewels.
