  • Increased recast times

What is the point of it? Why have to make a minimum of 2 seconds?

I think its kind of dumb I have to wait 2 seconds to cast again if I fail on a snare spell. And that's only one spell that had a no recast time. I can see why for some of the higher level, more powerful spells, but for the basic ones? Bah.

Sorry, I'm just a bit annoyed by it.

Since it takes 2 seconds for spell gems to refresh after a spell, all this does is prevent an exploit using insta click items.

All gems take 2 seconds to refresh? it seems shorter for the shortest casting time spells. Oh well, thanks.

Yup, they basicaly did not make any spell take longer to recast that it was ever intended too...

This change should prevent the message about the recast timer not finshed (that weird error you get every once and a while, and the excuse Verant gave for it...)
And stop the instaclick exploit (the real reason for the change)

Now that it is fixed, what was the exploit?

My understanding is that if you used any insta cast clicky item right after finishing a normal cast, it would refresh your gems immediately, allowing you to cast a spell with a very fast cast time faster than if you waited on the gems to refresh normally.

It still isn't fixed. They have more changes to do but that was supposed to be "step 1" toward the fix.

It really didn't change anything for people who weren't using clickies. I never tried it (too lazy to find an instant cast clicky) but it was something a lot of high levels used on raids. I don't think people even really considered it an exploit - they posted openly about it on class boards. It was just a way to get that heal/whatever off faster when every second counted.

I saw "Spell recovery time not yet met" more than EVER last night.

That, plus some eye-boggling 95% lagspikes where I standard have. . .0%, have made me less than happy with the patch.

                  the "Instaclick" exploit was this.

                  Cast a spell...
imiditely after it finishes, click an instaclick
gems refresh and you can cast again.

Some spells that were designed with the 2.25 second pause between casting in mind were able to be chain cast... some fast casting spells this would be inbalincing.

The exploit can still be used to cast 2 DIFFERNT spells faster than was intended.

I got the impression that ALL spells are supposed to have atleast the 2sec delay on them between recasts.

I also got the impression that the new UI was causing some spells to be able to be quite literally chain cast.

Thus, this particular bug has been eliminated.

Some things still do instant cast though - for example, I've use shrink potions several times post patch and they still have an instant effect time for me.

I never used insta clickies this way but the "spell recovery time not met" message killed me more than what I can count while trying to FD.

So I gonna applaud if they finally get rid of it.

"It really didn't change anything for people who weren't using clickies"

Um Yes it did. It fixed the "has not yet met recast time" meesage. I have had deaths on more than one occasion due to this happening to me. Like they said It started when the new UI came out. I know others have said it was there before that time. I personally never saw it until they put the new UI code in place.

Since the patch I have yet to get this error again. And I am happy for it. I think that those who think this was intended as an insta clicky nerf are incorrect and way too suspicious of the motives of Sony. In the past if they put a fix in to repair a known exploit they told us so. So I think they did this for the reasons they stated. Any effect to insta clickies that there may or may not be is purely co-incidental in my opinion.

Too many people seem to be under this delusion that Sony is out to attack and alienate the entire playerbase with constant nerfs and changes.

What I see, however, is a company doing its best to keep the game fair, interesting and entertaining for as long as possible. Do they make mistakes or do things in what I might consider to be a foolish manner from time time. Yes they do, but they have not been afraid to back out or modify some change they originally thought was a good idea but turned out not so good. While they could do with some improvement in customer service, on the whole I feel sony is doing a good job of things and I very much enjoy the game and will continue to playing until it is no longer enjoyable for me.

They still have yet to fix the spell recovery time not met bug. I have gotten this message at least twice during very light playing since the patch. What I have noticed that is very annoying is several of my buffs, which I swap out of one spell slot often, now require me to wait two seconds to cast rather than being ready the moment that I stand up. This has also affected all egress and succor type evac spells. You used to be able to cast them as fast as you could stand up after memming them, now again you have to wait 2 seconds, which in some cases is just inconvenient and others can be fatal.
