Why are the stats on the Javelins so good and the trivials so low?

If you look at Pottery, there is not one item that approaches the stats of the Javelins, even at 300 skill. Even smithing has nothing that outright approches those stats on armor. Even though the trivials are double that of Javelins.

It just seems so out of whack that they've implemented it the way they have. Maybe it needed to be done. But they really should add some meaningful recipes to many of the other tradeskills.

I would guess because the higher end ones are req lvl 70 and the items are thrown aka you lose them.

Well there are 100 HP bows from the PoP era, and you don't lose your bow, ever. So if Javelins aren't better than at least 100 HP there wouldn't be much reason to use them. 150 seems a bit high, but still reasonable.

Of course there are people with sucky ranges who will just use a Javelin as a range and never actually throw them, but I guess SoE decided to give players an advantage as opposed to making Javelins like 70-80 HP (which would mean they won't make a great range item for the sake of being a range item).

How the devil do you even go about pricing something like these?

        - Do you price them like a thrown item and set the price according to damage, distance, etc.?
        - Do you price them to comparable range stats, because there are many classes that will equip them as a range item?
        - Some combination of the two?
        - Very hard to do in the bazaar, that's' for sure

Yeah, it would be nice to have things this nice made in other skills.

I can guess why the trivial is so low though... the parts are easy to get, and they have started to make it so that the higher trivial stuff requires drops if they can, instead of just being able to buy your way to a high skill.

Yeah they have not ajusted all skills this way, but the trend I have seen is that they are avoiding adding anything that is a vendor purchased way up to a high skill.

          This is of course conjecture...

On Xegony, I have seen them 3p a piece, and 900p a piece. Guess which sells out while you are watching the bazaar prices?

              I make these on Povar.

With 275 charisma RSLJavs & RSWJavs cost 1.17014pp per javelin (118pp per stack of 100). During the 1st week of DoD i was selling them at 1k per stack to level 70s and at the end end of the week had sold around 50 stacks.

SLJavs & SWJavs cost 1.06024pp per javelin (107pp per stack of 100). I have sold around 100 stacks at 250pp per stack.

Now a few weeks later, i am priced at 200pp per stack and I might sell 10-15 stacks a week.

A nice little pile of plat.

Ahh, I made them the first few days of the expansion and sold them for 50pp each, and people were fighing to get them. There were so many subcombines I never did the math to figure out exactly what my cost was, but I knew it wasnt much. 1pp each though, thats insanely cheap.

A shame they have a req level on them rather than rec, so that people can use them at any level with diminished stats.
