With the announcement of the upcoming nerf to trivials on shadowscream and sickles, I frantically farmed to finish SS and I've been burning through my remaining plat to make sickles. I hit 285 (299 w/ geerlok) and a friend asked me to attempt the Grandmaster Half Elf BP and Legs. I completed the quest this week, and he supplied all the parts. We made the BP and failed the legs.
Once I saw the potential success rate with my current skill, I decided to take the plunge. I spent my remaining funds I was going to use on sickle ingredients, and bought drake scales in the bazaar. I had four from DoN instances, and I bought four more.

I suceeded on the combine for the BP, BP Aug, Legs, and Leg Aug! Salvage 3 helped me out twice, and it is by far the best 15 AA I've spent.
I'm so glad to have reached my goal of making the GM armor. I even got a skillup on my BP combine, so I'm at 286 now. I feel like the pressure is off, and I can casually work on getting to 300 smithing through combines for friends, or farming CT and PoStorms if I get bored.
