All Servers are up?!?

    All Servers are up?!?

    According to the web-site: http://eqlive.station.sony.com/suppo...ork_status.jsp All Servers are up.

    Yet, I can't log in because "The Login Server is currently not allowing connections."

    So, I guess that "All Servers" doesn't include the blasted Login Server!!!!

    Edit: So much for coming home for lunch so I could log my Trader in early...

    Well, I guess the "ESTIMATED" 8 hour patch is going to be closer to a 10 hour patch.

        Locked again. Only Venril Sathir (english) is up.

          I'm beginning to hate SOE... The estimated time I found on their official site a few hours before they came down said it was a 5 hour patch. And their server status page hasn't been correct or correctly updated since way before they stopped listing individual servers and started posting "All Servers are Up" 24/7.

            What's the point of a Server Status page... if it's not going to show the Server Status?!?

              *giggles* Since I started playing on Test, I don't even look at the server status page anymore. I figure if Test isn't up, it will be eventually. You become very pragmatic about these things when the server is subject to going down at any time.

                That's like the traffic signs near me. They say 50 mph but that's just a tease when the traffic crawls past them at 5 mph. It's as if they are saying "You could be doing 50 but you can't... so there"

                Same thing applies to the servers on patch day, they are sitting there saying "we are here, we are working.... but you ain't getting in"

                  Well the other problems... that they refuse to fix (and in a way they are correct) is..

                  The Login server cannot handle the load of logins post patch.

                  So even if they are correct and all servers are up (which I acknowledge is not always true) this is actually the WORST time to login, because well... the login server itself cannot handle 200000 people trying to login at once... so, some people get refused and that nice generic message "The Login Server is currently not allowing connections." And really that is the correct message. The Login server is up and working, just "full" so it is not allowing anymore connections until there is room.

                  and why they are correct to do this? Well.. maybe 1% of the time that the login servers are up, they cannot handle the load of entries. The rest of the time it can. It is just not financially viable to alter the infrastructure, buy the extra computers, power these extra computers, maintain these extra computers, then have them idle 99% of the time. And you may say "just 1%" well yes, just one percent, because really the load problem lasts maybe 30 minutes to an hour about 1 day a month...

                  Now yes... it is often a false positive of "up" on the servers right before they actually do come up, and it would be nice if SOE could fix that

                    Actually, the Server Status page will say that the servers were "up", even when they aren't accessible.

                    If the servers are "Locked", then they are technically "up". Also, when servers are being merged they are most deffinitely not "up", yet the Server Status page still says that "all servers are up".

                    Of course, right now the Server Status page is giving me an Apache server error.
