  • Beggars......

    First,
WHY DO PEOPLE INSIST ON BEGGING ME FOR A SOW, PORT, BIND, BUFF, KEI, or whatever?????

I'm A ROGUE!!!!!! WE DO NOT GET SPELLS!!!!!!!!!

If I had 1cp for every time someone asks me for one of those, I would be rich (IRL) form selling the PP on EBay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, now, don't newbies realize that at high levels, to upgrade your equipment, we need too spend THOUSANDS of platinum for ONE piece??

I wish it was as easy where 12PP gets you a full suit of leather and all your first level spells..

OK, newbies, we need to spend a lot more than you. Our tradeskills cost 1,000PP+ per point. A new piece of armor costs us in excess of 5,000PP to 30,000PP...

And you think we're able to throw money around like its candy?????

(Yes, I know, some are professional beggars, begging for money to give to their main...)

You want PP, do what the rest of us have to do, earn it. You'll have more pride in your accomplishments. People look at me, and they think I have a level 65 alt. Nope! My 27 Rogue is my main, and I earned everything I have, though tradeskills (silk swatches and leather paddings), quests (WK Bandit sash), and hunting (HG's with guildmates, PC, etc..).

I'd rather teach you to fish.

Checking to see if this is an overstatement...

    1cp each...

    10 for 1 silver

    100 for 1 gold

    1000 for 1 platinum...

Assuming half of all people on your server have begged a rogue for sow... very generous I think...

    Maybe 2000 people.

    Thats 2pp.

Assuming that it takes a month to rotate through everyone and start over, in a year you'd make 24pp, and since everquest came out, you might be up to 100pp give or take.

How much does that sell for on e-bay?

    Ok, on topic:

My monk can't be mistaken for anything else, gotta love duel weild staffs.

My wizard has a flappy pet, so people don't mistake me for someone who can sow... and port requests usually get me a few extra PP, so I don't mind much.

      Didn't you know?

If you are a halfling, you MUST be a druid. Port me and sow me plzkthxla~

Same if you are a wood elf, only wood elves can be rangers, so you have no excuse not to SoW them, at the very least.

      Lets see.... rogue races....

Humans are either Enchanters, Clerics, or Druids/Rangers... So you are obligated to Port, SoW, KEI or rez them if you are human. No silly excuses like being a rogue.

Dark Elves are wizards, so you are obligated to Port/TP them. Or , if you are the occasional DE Cleric, Rez them....

I am too tired to list the rest, but you all get the joke, I am sure.
(Apologies to Barbs, Vah Shir, and possibly Trolls and Ogres.. I forget the rest)

Hmm, I',m going to have to re-start Draggar as a wood elf Ranger then.

Heh, and people get mad when you tell them you can't sow/bind/port them...

I ask them to do a /who all draggar and their response is usualy a "So?"

I should just go out and get a full suit of Ravenscale, then it might be a little more obvious (Hmm, nice downgrade..)..

That brings up a pet peeve of mine.

I HATE people who ask questions that don't need asking.

In my entire life of playing everquest, I have not once been anonymous.

Yet hundreds of people have asked what level/class I am... well duh, click on me and type /whot 5 keystrokes.

When grouping, I check out the group before I join it. If someone is anon, I ask their class/level if they don't con white and aren't obviosuly a specific class.

By obvious I mean carrying an instrament, in the form of a bear, having a pet thats named 'warder', having a pet that flaps and says 'familiar', a pet that is an elemental etc.

I love slightly confusing people, as an Enchanter of lower level.

Hey, try being a Barb Warrior in full plate armor and duel wielding swords and having peps asking you for sow or focus. Sad thing is its not always noobs doing the asking, you would be surprised the number of peps in their 30s and 40s who do it as well.

People can always be mistaken - imagine my surprise as a troll SK having someone run up and ask me for a SOW and some buffs - full plate armor, wieghted axe in hand, skelly pet following me around - apparently this person had seen me switch out my axe for a doll when I went to sell to the merchants and since everyone knows that Shammys are the only ones who run around with little dolls in thier hands...

And Lilosh - you will never truelly blow someone's mind as a chanter till you buy a copy of the illusion spell for your own race - as a DE chanter, I've screwed with folks so badly that I know people who are convinced that I'm anything from a gnome chanter to a iksar necro (charmed skellies, zombies and ghouls make great fake necro pets ).

Just because they're in their 30's or 40's doesn't mean they're not newbies.

I've seel people <10 level who fight and group better than some 40's and 50's...
In my book, that defines a newbie (like the last time I groupped in CB, horrible! They pulled the whole TR - they didn't know how to harmony / mez...)

I'm A ROGUE!!!!!! WE DO NOT GET SPELLS!!!!!!!!!
Ever week my tiny little guild has a hunt on friday night. Recently, we've been down partying in Dreadlands. We've got a wide variety of people, but in particular we have a halfling rogue, who is dressed in a mixture of chain and plate at this point, wielding double daggers.

Well, I'm the cleric, so I'm most always sitting on my butt and this rogue is usually right next to me or running laps around me or something. The other night, I hear someone /say "sow plz". Ah, someone outside the group wants something...

Now, this particular night, our beastlord has already camped and we are all without the benefit of sow, except for our puller who has his jboots. So I'm wondering who is asking this... I get up and look around, there is an Iksar looking at our little halfling rogue.

So now I'm up and I'm in a kinda good mood (it's a pretty fun little group we have) so I start harassing the rogue for a sow as well. Pretty soon everyone is bugging her, saying that she's been slacking and she starts emoting : 's spell fizzles. And she is complaining about being OOM and needing to med, and then we start bugging her to see if she could port up to PoK to grab some arrows for someone. All in says for the benefit of our iksar friend... I don't recall when the iksar left, but we had a grand old time with it. I think I was about ready to fall off my chair at the end of it all I was laughing so hard.

Since then, our rogue will sometimes declare she will take over mezzing for the evening, or that she can cover heals if I'm low mana... it's gotten to be a lot of fun.

I don't get asked for SoW every day but it does happen. My response:

Please explain? As a gnome enchanter, I'm kinda annoyed that I have to change back to normal before using a new illusion.

What fun is involved with the Illusion:Gnome spell for me?

The really good part is that people dont know what race I really am. I never tell, unless I make a new friend. In which case they may know.

The only problem is dieing.... When they rez the Dark Elf, a tiny little gnome appears....

One of the intesting things about an illusion of your own race is that you no longer look like you. The face changes and usually your gear looks different, or it used to anyway not sure about now.
