  • Tailoring/Fletching...

So.... got a good supply of sacred tunare silk now... and ready to lvl tailoring from 203 to 252 or... at least 204.

Buy 40 gem studded chains and set off to work on first batch, at cost of 9000pp for the chains.

    Combine, combine, .... .......... etc....
57 combines, 40 robes made.... 0 skillups out of gem studded chains...

    /pound head on desk.

So, desperate for a skillup, I skip over to the fletching merchant and spend like 800pp or somewhere around there for bow materials after sellback...

I make 20 bows out of 20... and sell them back... going from 222 fletching to 226 in the process.

    *edit*
went on to do some more fletching combines, got to 231 usually seeing a skillup every 20 combines....

To me its the time to GM fletching, its tailoring thats broken all to....

I had a similar experience with Solstice Robes.

Got set up for about a hundred combines, figuring that 10 Gem Studded Chains should be enough at skill 187. (Allowing for as many as 2 successes per 20 combines.)

Stopped after 19 combines with 6 successes. Too expensive. (I did get one skill up though.)

Check your jewelry vendors for gem studded chains. Folks trying to max out jewelry "may" be selling their successes to the vendors. Chains cost 24pp from a vendor if you find any.

Hmm, CSRs may only be a viable skillup option between 158 and 178.

At skill of 158 (assume 200 int or wis)
        Success chance = 20.5%
Chance of skill up on Success: 19.43%, on failure: 9.71%, overall 11.7%

        At skill of 178
        Success chance = 40.5%
Chance of skill up on Success: 10.18%, on failure: 5.09%, overall 7.15%

Succeeding more than 40% of the time would get expensive, so I'd quit there.

NB: the above figures obtained with the Calculator linked on the main site....which may not be entirely accurate anymore due to the recent changes.
