Huge nerf makes a whipped puppy of this druid

Today I got my second prayer shawl done. Next task says to go make some sandwiches for some dwarves and bring back their dirty napkins. OK so I'm supposed to make a waiter/busboy of myself... I can do that I guess. So I set out to learn the fine art of baking. I already had 15 skill from making celestial essences. I found myself a spit, bought 10 stacks of fish and bat wings, and started clicking... and clicking... and clicking... oops out of fish and I'm at only 17 skill?!! So I went and trained up to 21 and went back at it. Now with 400 combines under my belt, I'm still at 24 skill.

I wanna know what the devs are smoking, and can they email me some of it? I just thank Karana I already did tailoring, smithing, and brewing up to almost 200. I'm really starting to question how badly I really want that prayer shawl.

From posts in the Newbie Zone on EQLive from the mods, a problem has been noted with skillups as of this patch, and they are working to unscramble the code and repair the bits that just plain went wrong. Until there's more information released, skillups are almost completely pooched.

Well I have some good news, and I have some bad news. Bad news first. It took me 1000 combines to get from 25 baking up to 76, making filleted bear which trivials at 143. (All combines were with 255 wisdom.)

Better news... next 200 combines netted me 23 points, up to 97.

Good news... next 200 combines netted me 44 points, up to 141.

Took 10 more combines to trivial the recipe at 143.

Soooo... the pattern I'm seeing here... the key to beating the new nerf might be to do combines that are barely over trivial.

The high priest told me as a wee druid that the trail to Karana's wisdom lay in not taking things at face value, and always being willing to work with the sweat of my brow. I think the old boy might have been on to something.

In case you're not reading the main board, skilling under 150 in any skill (not even just tradeskills... ALL skills) is currently bugged to have ridiculously low skillup rates.

Frankly you're a sick puppy to do it anyway.

Yeah, unless it was a joke, I don't quite understand why you would have done, um, 1000 combines, to get from 25 to 76 knowing there must be something amiss... It's about time someone took this puppy to the vet for a check up! =D

Um, I hate to say it, but it's been on the front page of our site (for those of you who avoid the SOE forums) since the morning of the 13th as a known issue. :O

I did miss the warning when I did the first 400 combines, but the next 1410 combines I did purely because I wasn't going to let the bug get me. And I am now the proud owner of the 3rd prayer shawl.

I do think I will wait until they fix it to do pottery though lol.

I feel sorry for you. I got burnt out trying to skill everything reasonable up before this patch (my intuition said bad things were coming) and it is tradeskill vacation time for me. Maybe I will go back after the mergers are finished, maybe not. The Panther/Leopard nerf took a huge bite out of the desire to do stuff also. My intuition is telling me that time spent as a guide won't be credited towards the new abilities.
