  • Prepping for this nerf has really sukked

[No real useful information to follow.... Just what I hope is a cathardic vent]

Well, in preperation for the upcomming nerf to 200+ skill up rates, I made it my goal to try to get as many of my skills done before it hit.

In the past two weeks I have pretty much liquidated everything I had been storing and planning to sell eventually on all of my mules. (at bargin basement prices i might add).

    I've passed on joining raids.

When friends have asked to group up, I've told them that I've gotta finish my tradeskills before the next patch.

All I've been doing these past two weeks is just clicking, and clicking, and clicking stuff in the tradeskill UI.

And I have to say, without a doubt, these past two weeks have been the most UNFUN time I've spent playing EQ.

Tradeskilling had been one of the funner parts of the game for me before. I didn't mind going around farming stuff (even green stuff) because I knew that I could sit down after a week or two and do a set of combines and walk away with 3 or 4 more skill points in one tradeskill or another. For me, the journey was the fun part, not necessarily the destination. While this past skillup race did get me over 2000 total points (all 300s cept smithing and tailoring), those points have by far and away been the least fun to get.

I think I'm going to set aside my tools and take a break from tradeskilling till it can come up with something that interests me.

Hopefully this nerf wont be too harsh, as that would probably deter me from ever returning. And tradeskilling has often been the one thing that has kept me playing this game at times.

I also took a lot of time off from my "fun" to skill up. One weekend I did 6 hours worth on a Sunday doing nothing but smithing. Many other days went by where I had to pass up groups, and chances to go do DoNs, so I could skill up before the nerf.

So now I'm weeks behind everyone and trying to catch up. I finally got the first set of mini-quests done and now need Gimblox kill to finish 1st level DoN series. Meanwhile, many guildmates are already doing level 3 stuff.

lol - how many of us did the same thing? Seems like forever since I've had an xp group.

Spent a large part of the pre-nerf time farming shadows and hollowshade moor for shadowscream smithing.

      Now:
      300 Potter - Baker - Brewer - Jeweller - Fletcher
      266 Smith - 192 Tailor
      Lnnolanwil
      Ranger of Tunare
      Mith Marr
