  • Highway Robbery, BUY NOW!!!

Now normally, I can handle high prices, and outrageous claims... and I can even tolerate the sole Circlet of Shadow in the bazaar priced at 1 million plat...

But what really gets my goat is when people auction off their "Low, LOW prices" and have vendor bought items at 10-100 times the price.

One person has cheap vendor gems (costing a few silver or gold on vendors) for multiple plat, claming he has the lowest gem prices in the bazaar... because one person (which wouldn't surprise me if it was his bot) has the same vendor bought gems at 100-1000plat!

Although finding an Ornate Silk Pant Pattern for 30k on a vendor this morning really helped me cope... now to get my chanter to 55...

edit: And the pricing isn't what bothers me most... it's their spamming of their supposed "low low prices"

I just turn off the Shout, OOC, Auction, etc. channels as soon as I enter the Bazaar.

Ack, but I like the auctions, some good deals sometimes... I like talking and quoting my opinions in /ooc... shout's usually too sparse to filter..

It's really just a pet peeve about the deceptive sneaky traders that 'claim' things that are just blatant lies or poor logic that makes them look good.

Yes, I've sold 5 Festive Dolls, but if people ask me how to get them, I tell them... I don't claim it to be a rare drop... or say it's the cheapest way of getting it by having it as the lowest price in the bazaar.

I'm guessing you play on Zebuxoruk...

My Circlet of Shadow set to 1 million plat isn't really for sale, at least not for anyone on the open market.

I got it from a friend of mine before he cancelled his account (for the third time) because I didn't want to see it disappear. I keep it as a backup in case anything ever happens to mine. It's priced at 1 million platinum in case he ever logs back in some day (which is bound to happen sooner or later). He will see it and know that I didn't get rid of it and that I still have it to return to him.

Things aren't always as they may appear to be. Usually they are (obviously), but you'd probably be surprised that there are completely valid explanations for situations that you may think are only somone being greedy.

You got a deal like that and you came here to grouse? You're nuts. I'd be running gnomy butt-naked round the PoK library with a cockatrice feather stuck up my rear end if I had gotten ornate silks pant pattern for as cheap as that.

IMHO, the people who sell vendor stocked items at outrageous prices are just a joke. So daft it's not worth worrying about them. I'm kind of glad they do this as anyone who has any idea about the game know the items they can buy from vendors and can use this very site to check the correct vendor price. I never stock anything which can be bought from a vendor, its a waste of bag space. All the people are doing is using up precious trader bag space and reducing their ability to sell decent skilled goods in competition against the real traders.

As to those who yell "Cheapest prices in Bazaar" or worse "Selling xyz for 100pp less than the bazaar price" while they are standing in the bazaar are just ridiculous. The game has a price checker for the bazaar built in, it's the Bazaar search UI. I can see in seconds who has the cheapest price in the bazaar for an item.

However, sometimes, just sometimes it's worth not having certain channels on ignore. Sometimes I browse through the ooc'd WTS linked items just to see if there is something out there that I didn't know about and might be interested in researching on Allakh. The vendor "Goodmorning XXX, would you like to buy this useless bent rusty nail I just got in?" messages often annoys. But last night when I spotted the message "would you like to buy this crushed diamond dust I just got in?" I legged it round the PoK fishing pond and hastily snatched the item from the trader before the person who triggered that message had a chance to figure out what they had missed out on.

I did something similar recently. I am one of the main tinkered goods sellers on Stromm and when I successfully made a Collapsed Still I put it on my trader at 100k pp. I had no interest in actually selling it at that price and in fact might have been quite upset if someone had bought it (but consoled by the large pile of plat). I just had it on my trader to show off to the other tinkers that I had made one, no other reason than that.

lol, I play on Drinal... and that Circlet of Shadow is priced at 1mil... the guy even said "hey, if you don't like my price, don't buy from me"

And what's funny is that usually they tell the truth about being the cheapest or half the advertised price "in the bazaar"... they just fail to mention that the items are either vendor sold for much less... or that the other prices are so rediculous, that even half is expensive.

WTS Water Flask, 500p... half the price of other prices in the bazaar!

and yes... there usually are a few Water Flasks out there for 1k...

Yes, but those are just afk cash transfers. Some of them are guild mates swapping cash around, others are cross server cash exchanges and the larger ones are the clients of plat sellers waiting for their money. A pretty common sight to see a 100kpp water flask on most servers.
