I don't know if this is the right place but omg grrr

I buy a new computer yesterday and they say I can't get it then and I get a paper cut with the bill for it right after I leave the dang store! THEN I finally get it home today and it wont install an OS on it; granted that was my fault cause I plugged in my camera thinger instead of my mouse. So I waste 2 hours trying to figure out what the heck is wrong with that. Then I figure out that not only did I have that in the wrong spot.. but my sound card is too ghetto for my new computer and I have to buy a new one (ahhhhh! ).

Then I finally get an OS on it, and I find out that the port I used on my router is infected with a virus and now my computer which I just installed an OS onto has a virus on it ( )! Then after pissing around with that for like another hour or 2, I finally get EQ installed.

So here I am, 8:38pm PST.. patching EverQuest, which is going to take THIRTEEN HOURS! I got home from picking up my computer at 1:15pm PST..
I'd scream if I could, but all I can do is yell... I want to scream.

    Incase anybody wondered..
    My old computer was p3 1.0Ghz 256MB RAM with a radeon 9200 (128mb)
my new computer is p4 3.0Ghz 1GB RAM with my old radeon 9200

I want to get my dang research up.. grr

      Something no computer owner should *ever* be without;

      * A good UPS. (Uninteruptable Power Supply) This is essentially a big battery that connects to your computer and supplies power in the even the power goes out. They also help to prevent power-spikes and lightning damage.
You can get one at any electronics store.

eh, I build my own computers...

but honestly, I have no idea what you did... it sounds like you bought a computer from a garage sale... plugged a camera into your mouse port, and manage to put a virus on a 'port' while installing an operating system.

I know the EQ withdrawal symptoms might be kicking in... but maybe you should relax and let a professional set up your comp...

oh, and if you can't get the UPS... at least get a surge protector! I'm picturing this old basement with an outlet with 15 plugs fizzing and sparking in the corner...

            heehaw

I usually have no issues installing computers, and I've been using them since the Comm64 was the 'uber' system. This is the first time I've had it happen, it's just madness I tell you, I installed it and within seconds there was a virus.

EQ withdrawl isn't that bad, I quit playing for a year and a half, I do have other things to do aside from play EQ; such as work, college, and chase tails (ladies!)

as funny as it may sound, the only thing that _wasn't_ plugged into my surge protector was my monitor, which is where the surge came from that fried my video card. Now I have my UPS in my room with _my_ computer instead of it being on my father's crappy computer, I didn't think a surge through the monitor would do such damage.

oh, and to clarify this whole virus thing, it's a virus in svchost.exe

EDIT: sometimes I don't speak/write cleary.. so I tried to fix it.
