  • Culteral Armor Quests (

Okay, not a big deal, but I find it iritating.

I have never hunted the Hole with my gnome cleric, because I worship Brell, and I don't feel it's right to kill the elementals, who are the soldiers of my god. Whenever our guild does the hole, I always play my ranger alt, and ask one of our other guildies to play their alt cleric to heal instead.

So why oh why does the expert quest to get the culteral book for gnomes require me to go to the Hole (a place I never go with my main) and not only that, but they want me to kill Elementals! Note, only the little toons worship Brell. Heck, if they had at least asked me to kill ghosts or something I would have been happier. Or better yet, send me to kedge like they did with the humans. But Elementals...?! For goodness sake, swap the human expert quest and the gnome one. At least that wouldn't be senseless.

    Grrrr....

Okay, I feel better now. I did feedback this in game, not that I expect anyone to do anything about it. I just wish they had put a little more thought into the quests they assigned by race.

As it is, I plan to do all the quests BUT the expert one.

Try posting about this on the SOE forums, under "The Library (Lore Discussion)". Vahlar is the dev in overall charge of lore, and she's pretty good about investigating and replying to lore queries. Maybe she'll have some perspective on why the quest is this way. If not, she would be the right person to inform about the issue so she can check if the change is appropriate and possible.

I despise the fact that they tied these quests to various factions that you may in fact, want to keep. I have max CoV faction and have completed 5 of the 6 VP quests (no plan on doing the 6th). But I refuse to tarnish my reputation with the dragons to help anyone obtain hides.

Being a Halfling, the 3rd level requires KC kills / drops. My wife/partner is a DE.....nope, she can't help me here.

As a 70 druid, you should have no problems soloing the 3rd level book.
I posted strats (from a druid's perspective) in the DON Data Submissions forum.

Wow, this amuses me that it's finally not just the paladins getting nailed on "You get this, but it'll cost ya later! just you wait and see!"

Let's see here, I started EQ back in September of 1999. I started as a Pally, loved my Pally, joined a Pally/Cleric only roleplaying guild. Armor of Ro was the big thing... and I wanted to help my guildies and myself in getting this armor. One of the majorly required parts, Melatite?, dropped of CWG in Sol A. With Direct factions linked back to two good races, Gnomes and Dwarfs. So, by the time I figured this out, I was already beyond repair there (not a very SMART pally growing up).

They introduce one of our epic guys for FD... and hide him not far behind a Dwarf Rogue Guildmaster.

Soulfire, causes us to be KoS in most human Paladin's starting city. That came to bite me in the rear when I wanted to do Freeport Cultural and am almost even KoS to the merchants of freeport in addition to 2/3 of the city. My gods actual plane I am KoS in even. I guess I must be a horrible worshipper.

I gave up a long time on roleplaying, caring about factions or what the lore says I am suppose to do. I can't say it's for everyone, because it really drained a lot of fun from the game for me. It's just sad that EQ went away from being an online fantasy-based game to just being just another game where what they say in the pamphlet doesn't matter at all once ya get online.

Well aware of the pally issue. My husband has been playing since April of 1999, and his first toon was a Pally. He never could understand why he was told to kill another pally of a different race to steal their holy sword (Ghoulbane). Of course, since then, they've put quests in to deal with the lore aspect of this.

But this was just the current instance of new content not considering factions and lore, and since I'm a gnome it irrated me greatly. I mean, we're already used for Norathian football, and now we're being stepped on again. Gnomes unite in protest!!! Join me in a tinkering strike until they fix this...hehehe. Oh, just kidding

I am not having any trouble soloing the 3rd book (except for the amount of time), I have a problem with my wife not being able to join me as she needs that faction. That was my point.

Human Expert Book from freeport actually is the same thing... kill 50 elemental warriors in the hole, loot 10 drops of mercury, after that kill 4 of the elemental monstrosities, and loot 1 drop of mercury. (or numbers near it). Weird gnomes get the same one......
