  • Can this game get any worse?

I'm trying really hard to remember why it is that I play this game.

The guild I love ended up dropping to zero other members online during the time I play -- empty guild chat and no raids is not something I could handle. So I had to apply somewhere else and be the "applicant with the same status as dirt" for two months now.

Tailoring combines got nerfed so I'm stuck with bajillions of useless items, and no way to skill up tailoring.

I sold items at fire sale prices and deleted characters in anticipation of a move to firiona vie server, which was disallowed at the last possible moment. Meaning that now my items and characters are just gone. Characters deleted in anticipation of a move won't be restored. Even if it was SoE that said that the move would be allowed and then cancelled it at the last minute.

I got turned down on the vote by my former guildmates to join the only high end raiding guild on the server that interests me. So now I can either tough it out and raid without loot and "dirt" status for another month to get eventually rejected again, or I can quit and have people say "why did you do that? Don't you relish being our unpaid slave labor?"

I got scammed out of 250k by some jerk that stole a friend's account, and I trusted him thinking it was the former guildmate I was talking to, or at least someone reputable since he was in my old guild.

And I keep getting laid off from jobs IRL. Seems like everywhere I go is disaster, setbacks, or failure. (Well at least I lost 32 pounds IRL this year, that's one nice thing. And still married.) But the game isn't improving my life, and it's not enjoyable, mainly because SoE has changed their motto.

OLD MOTTO: You're in our world now.

NEW MOTTO: You're in our hell now.

Actually, You're in our hell now would make it sound like they have been going through hell and living in hell and we just recently joined it. Much more like "Welcome to hell" would be what you are aiming at.

I am sorry to hear that your RL has been as bad as it has lately, always sucks. I had to take a seven month break while I pieced my life back together from too long of letting it rott and fall apart. There are so many quotes that sometimes really irritate ya but they are more than true... like my boss stating (after I asked for a raise) that "I can't get you anymore money, we're just lucky to all still have jobs."

With EQ... you just gotta remember, it's a game. If you don't enjoy playing it, why pay for it?

Honestly, you need different friends, did you ever think that you might want to relax a bit and join a less competitive, FUN guild, as it seems like your old "trusted guildmates" are doing nothing more than giving you the shaft...

and the motto hasn't changed.. you just gotta look at the fine print.

      You're in our world now...
and you'll pay for it, but nobody's saying you're gonna like it....

I did a /movelog to move from Zek to another server. All characters on my account and my wife's account were moved... except my main character. Yes, I plan to join a guild once I get there.

In one aspect you have learned who your real eq friends are.. and who are not your friends.
I would suggest looking into another guild than the one you are currently applying for. 2 to 3 months is a long time to get an official invite to a guild.
I know the feeling of seeing a guild go down the tubes.. been there a few times. There are many guilds out there. Play with different members of different guilds to see the different play styles and personalities of the members. I've learned the saying is true in EQ.. "birds of a feather flocked together"
When its all said and done this game is what you choose to make of it.

There is SOMETHING in the game that makes it worth that $12 a month. Something that will always draw you back..... You cannot quit, nobody can.
