    Ok, here's the question....

I post a decent length post, probably 4 or 5 paragraphs, and use humor and hyperbole to make a simple point.

Getting item X is not fast or fun.

In it I make a clear effort to use humor. And I post, in the midst of this humor, a single phrase.

"the trivial level for the misaligned cog-driven stapler is 56. has been, will be, deal."

And multiple people jump my .... (notices mods drooling) ... chair sittting muscles.

"No Itek, the trivial for the misaligned cog-driven stapler is 52, every time i've made one with my Iksar Rogue it's been 52, how dare you pollute the boards with your drivel!!"

    AAAARRRRGGHH!!

Humor. Hyperbole go look it up if you haven't already, please for the love of Bright Lord Agnostic.
In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
I suck at this game, your mileage WILL vary. My path is probably NON-optimal.

Wait, are you talking about the infamous Red Stapler? Cause that has a trivial of 55

LoL. I've determined that humour is on a bell curve. Some people will think it funny if you say your dog died. Some will never get a joke, even if you act it out in pratfall.

Reminds me of this thread. I built on a joke by Brody about a tinkered switchblade and eventually had to come back and post quite plainly that I was just joking and (some) people could quit trying the quest and recipie. It was a fun thread though! (you were in on that thread too. )

            Hmm....

I recently had an issue with the word "wrong" being tossed around too easily and without substantive evidence.

Certain highly placed members of the community reminded me that on prior occasions _I_ had -myself- tossed "wrong" around without showing proof.

This disturbed me as I have an abhorance for being called a liar and have refused on many occasions to call someone a liar or wrong without checking or at least admitting the possibility they may be right as I am certainly NOT infallible.

So I went back and checked. Advanced search, author = Itek and the word wrong in "entire post" in all open forums.

            Zero.

That is the number of times I "tossed out" the word wrong without proof. (In most cases mathematical proof, in some personal experience with specific examples. I'd have the logs but I've had 2 hard drive crashes in the last couple years.)

I'd go check for "liar" and "lie" but I'm reasonably certain I've not used those terms with substantially more frequence. As, previously stated, I have an aversion to using those words.

Even MORE surprising is the number of times in the _23_ instances of the usage of the word "wrong" by me in a thread is the number of times where it appears in context as....

            "I might be wrong but..."

On more than one occasion I've bitten my tongue. On a couple of occasions I've needed to blot the blood out of my mouth with a Kleenex(tm).

The meaning of "fighting words" in the legal sense is that courts have ruled that SOME language is a provocation to a fight.

Hatfield: Someone needs a stump pulled.
            McCoy: Them's fighting words, Mister!

Wrong, lie, liar and similar without some substance will set me off. I make no appologies.

Further adding to my annoyance is the revamp of Caster'sRealm which makes old patch messages in the archived news search point to blank or innaccuarte (wrong, hehe) pages. So I can't go get the information I thought I wouldn't feel the need to find.

NOW I have to level up a halfing druid to level 5 (I think) to get it to forage skill to test a theory. *edit* Now I read on eqdruids that halfling druids get a forage skill of 50 at level one, which might change my theory. So I will check to be sure if they do or not. If they do it might be a human druid instead. *end edit*
