    I ave no idea where to post this but,

    On my sisters account she has a shadownight who has the ability harms touch when she used it, she couldnt use again untill she logged off and that was an hour 1 1/2 later. When she logged back on the next day she was able to use it. How does this ability work?
    I knew i shouldnt have lit that match....

    This question is better asked on a Shadowknight board, or by reading the game manual.

    But, Harm Touch is a Shadow Knight class ability that can be used once every 90 minutes (1.5 Hours). It does direct damage to the shadow knight's current target.

      Details for spells here (recast times are measured in seconds, so 4320 = 60 sec/min * 72 min).
      Sometimes your timers will get messed up if your computer is not set to the correct time (and day and year). If that is the case, you might get messages like "you cannot use that skill for 42829304283097502723572097950 hours" or some other absurd number.

      HT (like the paladin LoH) is on a 72 minute timer. It should reset when you die. It will be based on the magic resist of the target (unless you get an AA that changes it to disease resist), doing something like 1 + 10 points per level of the caster. So if you get tagged for 351 points, you were tagged by a level 35 mob. At higher levels (50 I think) the formula changes.

          I don't think harm touch refreshes when the player dies. Otherwise it would be trivial to kill mobs by corpse farming SKs. Pally Lay of Hands does refresh upon death.

            I ran into a young SK a while back that was HTing something that was way out of his range, but he had pulled it near his bind point. He died, respawned, HT'd the mob again. Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

            I don't know if it has changed since then, but I thought it was a pretty cheap trick.

              Harm Touch and Lay Hands both refresh on death on standard (blue) servers, but not on pvp (red) servers.

              heh, that would be one annoying consequence of having xp-less deaths for low levels.

                um.... I only played a SK for about 30 minutes once...

                but wouldn't the "loading please wait" time bring the damage per second down far enough that it would make more sense to just... i dunno... FIGHT the thing or run for help?

                seems not time efficient... and I'm usually the one doing non-time efficient things...

                  Soon after the newbie changes, I played a Shadowknight for a bit.

                  You die, and pop up at bind point with 100% health, all your gear, and HT refreshed. So really, for the first 10 levels, there was no reason NOT to die frequently.

                  I'd run out, hit a yellow con mob with HT, fight it down. Then kill whites and blues until ran low on health and died. Zone back in and repeat. The xp for the 1 yellow was more than I'd lose from dying, and it was better than waiting for HP to slowly regen!

                    He was a gnome, bound in Steamfont out by the gaurds. He pulled a skeleton from the dragon bones nearby. Respawning doesn't take near as long if you die in the zone you are bound in.

                    But yeah, he was under level 10 so no XP loss. I don't think this would be a valid tactic on higher-level mobs.

                      Not sure if this changed on blue servers now. HT may or maynot refresh and I don't feel like dieing to find out, but sure last time I died it didn't re-fresh.

                        May be an exploit, but I can't see it being worth doing past about level 15. Seems the death loss wouldn't even out with the dmg needed to kill the mob.

                          i ended up deleting my shadowknight anyhow to make way for other characters, so i never found out if it works or not but thanks for the help all. (even tho im about a month late)
