Random Number Generator, someone else can tell you more about it, I've never looked into the figures behind tradeskills much

Random Number Generator's or RNGs are common programming tools to create a number between set fields for an express purpose.

The RNG controls your /random 100, if you succeed in a combine, if you skill recieve a skill up, and about 9000 other things in the game.

So, in short all the RNG is, is the evil little creature that determines our sanity as tradeskillers by telling us when we finally get that last point to hit 250 in a tradeskill or for some (before oow) allowed them to weep tears of joy at seeing their shiny signet fire undergarment shirt from the Aid Grimel quest.

It can also stand for Ranger, which as in my case, is just as infuriating, unpredictable and generally insane as the Random Number Generator.
