  • 5 weeks of Omens excitement... or not

I haven't made any ice cream at all, nor has anyone I know. There are only 5 churns on my server, and none of them are mine.

I haven't made any charms, nor has anyone I know. Only two of the charm recipes are even discovered/working.

I haven't made any augments, nor has anyone I know. I do have a gemcutter and some of my friends are camping for theirs, but the pieces are still pretty rare. There are a few augments in the bazaar, so at least somebody has.

I haven't found any more uses for Gates of Discord stuff that I learned to refine (wheat, tea, etc), nor has anyone I know.

I haven't even started my epic quest because nobody's found the NPC to start it yet.

I haven't much interest in new armor because the Omens crafted armor is not as good as the old PoP crafted armor, nor Ornate. I might become interested in a few drops if there were focus effects or mana regen on any of it... or if there were any augments available to add focus effects or mana regen on any of it (as was probably intended). But there aren't.

This may be because I'm not in a big raiding guild. And I haven't been completely idle -- I made one Bazu Bracer and tried to cut one Voidflow Stone. But I've been utterly unable to run around crying 'charms and augments and new recipes, oh my!'. As much as I should, I just can't feel like the new expansion has given tradeskillers a bunch of great new things that we asked for. Because hardly any of it is actually available.

In LDON I very quickly started accumulating augments to put +6 stats in every slot. I figured with Omens I could very quickly (or slowly, or expensively, or eventually) update all those +6 stats to +12. But it's not happening.

If other people are having better luck and are getting to experience more of the new stuff, perhaps could you tell me how you do it. Because I'm really un-excited about the whole thing.

The one exception is probably (visible) magnetic armor, which has some rather nice peices (compared with ornate) and has no parallel to the rare bloods of bazu/feran/murkglider. Purely off of bazaar buying, I've managed to churn out a large number of peices (for myself, friends, and for resale).

heh, my 'charms and augments and new recipes, oh my!'-feel is virtually entirely based off magnetic smithing, now that I think about it .... Otherwise, OoW has been low on "accessable" new recipes, you've certainly got a point there - though in the case of the augments, personally I find the low rate wise as they are very powerful (I've always thought mudflation in EQ was too fast, though, so my view is probably a bit skewed from the norm).

        Ermmm....... yes and no.

All epic 1.5's have been completed IF you have your epic 1.0

The enchanters still have not found the starting point for the non Epic 1.0 route to Epic 1.5. They are not alone but enchanters are feeling particulary hard done by right now because thier epic is the only one which has been specifically designed to get them killed - the triggered effect causes non-agro'd mobs to suddenly agro in a large radius around the unfortunate chanter because some .......(choosing words carefully) rather perverse individual............. put an AE boggle on the dashed thing instead of a non-agroing memblur as should have been done.

I know what you mean about the gem cutters Sylphan, I thank my lucky stars I thought to make mine up last year to let me tinker greasy diamonds. I got the dust for 100pp which at the time I thought was a bit stiff but that pales by comparison of the bazaar price at the moment. Plat signs in my eyes I camped those giants for days hoping to make some fast cash by making others cutters - still nothing.

arrow stuff! lol Every once and a while I train a friend with good AE and still never saw a dragorn wing bone.

          Back to acrylia for me!

and Gem Cutters!! ugh, I need two. I am doing the VP Metallic Necklace quest. I cleared Sol B five times of giants, permafrost twice and Everfrost twice. Finally, a friend got a diamond dust from a vox raid he is so sweetly giving me!! But geesh, what a rare drop rate on those now.

It's like GoD spells, just aint gonna see em for a very long time.
