  • Two 8th Shawls in One Day! Woo!

Two weeks ago, my husband and I both did the final combines on all the armor pieces for the 8th shawl (only fail was him on one bracer, otherwise all lucky successes). (We've been working on and off on the tradeskills and gathering of components for about the last 9 months.) Last weekend was way too busy for EQ, so today we gathered our friends together to help us walk the general.

Our group consisted of me (65 shadowknight), my husband (65 beastlord), a 62 cleric, a 65 necromancer, and a 67 shaman. At noon we handily beat all the waves of giants and wolves with no trouble at all and my husband was awarded his final shawl to much dancing and cheering.

While we waited for the general to respawn, the necromancer went and caught the mob up that she needed for the last piece of her 9th Iksar Skullcap quest and did all her turn-ins and donned her skullcap to another wild smattering of applause. We then went and, after a little trial and error and some help from a magus friend of ours, beat the PoJ Trial of Torture to bring me within four steps of elemental access and simultaneously got the shaman a piece he needs for his epic 1.5.

Four hours after we successfully completed the first shawl walk, we sought out the general again and (with the same five people in the first walk) easily guided him to the gnomes and I was awarded my very own 8th shawl. The time for drinking and celebration was nigh.

What a day for questy success! We could not have done the shawl quest without this site, its faithful community, and Denmom and Ngreth.

    THANKS TO YOU ALL!

      niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.

In an odd way (and by odd, i mean that I don't have a large group of people I can call upon to help me do things like this), it's comforting to hear that the walk can be done with small amounts of people.

grats, grats, and more grats to you both.

I promised my husband I wouldn't do Aid Grimmel. I'm tempted, but I am working on my elemental flagging and some equipment upgrades now. He's doing the coldain ring quest.

Sanna- like many things in old world EQ now, the shawl walk has gotten almost frighteningly easy. I feel happy and sad about this at the same time. It bothers me less than the other day when my time/GoD-equipped mage friend said to me "You still need Grummus? That's just about groupable now." We had good people with decent equipment along, though the shaman who was in both shawl walks is also time/GoD equipped. If we were on the same server I'd offer my gnomish sword to help whenever you needed it.

Did my own 8th shawl walk the day before yesterday, with a single group of pre-elemental folks. We had a 62 wiz (me), 66 cle, 69 bard, 67 sham, 65 ench, 66 war. It was, frankly, a piece of cake. I think any 3 of us could have done it. We're geared out in a hodge podge of LDoN, OoW, and first 2 tiers of the planes gear. On a side note, I, unfortunately, will most likely never skill up in smithing again. Last night I was doing some EVBs, and got 213 and 214 consecutively, then a single combine, then 215 and 216 consecutively!!! All told, 4 skillups on 30 combines. I nearly died.
