  • Tailoring blues. Othmir fur hell! :O

*cries* I just lost an entire post that I worked so hard to write on here!

I'm stuck. I just got to 158 in Tailoring and now I have only two choices in mind to do in order to keep going to GM Tailor.

1: Studded Acrylia Masks. I could do this and spend some plat on the superb rockhopper hide, but it seems like it'll be a pain to do. O.x

2: Othmir Fur Cap. I am a level 57 Cleric and I can't hunt the furs all by myself.

You can understand my frustration. I only have about 14k in savings, but I heard that some can spend about 75k getting from 150 to 250 in tailoring. O.x

I am wondering if there is possibly any way that I can find anyone to help me farm Othmir furs sometime on the Bristlebane server? If so, I would be thrilled!

If this is the wrong forum to post this sort of message, I am sorry. This is my first post here ever.

75k, in some cases, is a gross underestimate of the cost to take tailoring from 150-250.

You should finish up ribbons first of all - you can easily farm the ingredients on your own, for one thing, and it is the last easy path you will see in tailoring.

I would recommend farming the superb rockhopper pelts after that, and keeping the flawless ones you get at the same time for later on. Then farm othmirs too as you have the opportunity. Then farm any other type of pelt (wyvern, panther, etc.) as you get sick of farming those, and then farm pp anywhere you can (to buy solstice robe ingredients and other overpriced pelts), and then still be stuck at like 210 in tailoring after all that. You're probably going to end up using several routes just based on what you can get your hands on at that time.

Um... strength to you, it won't be easy, tailoring sucks. Sorry I'm not on your server to help.

I have to agree that doing Ribbons until 170-something is the way to go.

Also, if you're Human, High Elf, Dark Elf, Erudite or Gnome... then you can do Cultural Robes using some of those Ribbons.

I'm guessing you're not a Halfling, or you would've mentioned that race's Cultural Tailoring...

If you're a Dwarf Cleric... Ouch.

My druid has reached 200 tailoring with ribbons and then Ceremonial Solstice Robes. I'm awful at leveling, so she's struggling to get three AA points to take her tailoring over 200.

Since the Othmirs are still mostly dark blue to her, she's been ruining her faction with them for the last few weeks. I'm still very annoyed that I have to kill the cute little fellows and listen to their pitiful death cry as they clutch their chests and dramatically fall over just to get better at tailoring. And with all that killing, she has only found two furs.

Why don't they just add some baby seals for us to club to death and make us feel even worse.

She may be among those of us races who can't do ribbons or robes...

I spent upwards of 30k getting from 158 to 200 on a mixture of things, primarily acrylia. The other things included arctic wyvern pieces, soft fur padding (while working on my 8th shawl, plus a few extra when I found cheap furs), and the occasional cobalt drake or pantherskin when materials were affordable.

That was all quite a while ago, but I don't think options or prices have changed all that much, aside from the ribbons and robes. So I can't say I'm in any hurry to push to 250.

Anyone can do the ribbon combines till 187. It just takes money. The Platnium ribbon is 105 each and vendor purchased and will cost you a pretty penny. You can get the dye component yourself if your patient. I found that I could farm Sylvan berries by killing the 4 orc camps in LFay. They would drop 1 or 2 per clearing and they are under lvl 15 (possibly under level 10).

The next level (there are 2 level with one being triv 5 points higher than the other) would be Cauldron Prawn in Dagnors Cauldron. The prawn will drop from goblins there, but they only have 1 static camp. Watch out for the dragon they put in there for the Berzerker epic 1.0. This camp will make you insane before you are done.

The other option for a level 58 cleric is to sit in PoK selling temp and buy all your tailoring components in the Baz. I'm not a cleric so I don't know how much you would make doing so.

Little bit hestitant to share this info but I think I've found a hidden treasure in skilling up my tailoring. Aged Snake Whips (not their actual name but close enough to find in the database, I forget their actual name ) are usually listed for 3-4k in the bazaar on my server and are a nice sidestep on the way to acrylia reinforced. I always looked at this and said to myself 'self, those things are never selling!' because all the ingredients are either store bought, easily found in the bazaar for relatively cheap or those dang pesky heady kiolas I can't seem to get away from. Then last weekend I had somebody shouting WTB for 2k. I was feeling like trying something new so I offered to do the combine for him. Gathered up enough material for 2 in case of a failure and did the combine, wound up with both suceeding. So I put the other on my bazaar mule at 2.5k to see how long it would take to sell. It took approximately 2 hours. So I say to myself 'hmmm, self these things may actually sell. Let's take our newly made profit and invest it in making a few more'. So I made 6 more and have been selling them at the rate of 1-2 a day, 2k ish profit each. Now, these are the facts. I still look at these things and think that nobody would ever buy them for over 100 pp but obviously there is something there that people like so maybe you can consider making them for your sever too once you get a little higher in tailoring

Definately do the ribbons for as long as you can.

You can search vendors in zones they are dropped or foraged in, some people actually vendors the dye components /gasp

                  I <3 people who vendor stuff I need =)
