Tried my hand at quadding in HoH. Takes a long time! With the first one dead I was feeling pretty pleased with myself. Happened to click on one of the remaining mobs and saw it was down to 1% so I thought I'd save myself some mana and clicky-DoT it.

Guess who didn't leave enough time. Guess who thought 'Oh, I can take a couple of hits, I'll be ok' Guess who got unlucky with the stuns from the remaining 3 virtually dead mobs.

Guess who spent half an hour quadding and only got one kill!

There's always what I call "new bard syndrome" -- get that level 2 song (it's an AE) and want to try it out... right there in town. I'll bet a good 90% of bards get killed by guards that way at least once. In my case, I think it was just a matter of forgetting to turn it off when heading back to sell stuff after killing a bunch of rats & bats, but I can't swear to it, as that was about 5 years ago now. (omg... has it REALLY been that long? *sigh* you'd think I'd have a toon over 51 by now :P )

On a similar note... as a young enchanter (back when North Freeport was *the* gathering place), I was sitting outside the NFP bank getting ready to enchant some silver. I /waved to a friend, then proceeded to hit the wrong spell gem for my enchant while I still had him targetted... Yup, I cast one of my little nukes on this big, powerful pally (I think he was all of level 40 or so at the time -- big to me, as my enchant silver spell was still fairly new to me at the time... and since this was pre-Kunark, 40 was pretty impressive anyway). Anyway, the guard took exception, and as I appear at my bind point, I get a /tell asking what happened -- all he saw was suddenly the guard started attacking me. I think what most impressed me was that it actually took more than one hit for me to die. Since then I *always* make sure to clear my target before enchanting ANYTHING, even if I've got my "enchant/trade" spell set up, which contains no offensive stuff whatsoever.

My secondary deaths are the stupid ones - I have this habit of clicking a mage rod right after I get rezzed so I can help heal the other victims. You would think I could learn not to after a while, but I still manage to do it every so often to this day.

Nowadays I play EQ from my fiance's computer. He is an FPS veteran and has set the keyboard in ways which (he swears) make life easier.

              Autoattack is mapped to R.

I haven't died to this YET. Every time I reply to a tell, I wonder if this is going to be the time.

Dumb blonde druids of Lanys, Unite!

Well I have been loving reading everyone else's, it makes me feel a lot less stupid. Just this last weekend I rooted and nuked myself to death while trying to solo wyverns in CS. Then some kind friends were trying to help me get my Jade Reaver for my epic, and I stepped over the edge of one of the air bridges and glided gracefully into the arms of half a dozen hungry mobs.

I swear I couldn't do this stuff if I tried.

On a tradeskill note, does anyone else ever buy the wrong molds then sit cussing at the UI til you think to check what you've stuck in the Experiment window?

                *sigh*

I was showing a friend my newest illusion (high elf).... in the neriak bank..

I was scouring EC vendors, and went up to Rinna Lightshadow to see what she sold... did i mention i'm a dark elf?

Ahh.. the lessons we learn. Experience is that which tells you you just made that mistake.. again.

Years ago, my guild was raiding the Hole, and I bound myself in the CY (you see where this is going don't ya?).

Anyways, the next day I get suckered into helping on a rogue epic in kithicor, and while afk and sitting, they drug the general into the camp.

9 Deaths later I finally managed to get my wizard over to the little ledge corner and wait for my guild to rescue me (they still remind me of it occasionally..... usually after I taunt them for doing something stupid)

I often scout in LDoN adventures using the Eye of Tallon Spell, to give the puller a little more information about what is coming up, or to look for named mobs when our group doesnt have a tracker. Anyway... It is generally a good idea to make double sure your viewpoint has switched to the eye before you go charging into a room with 5-6 mobs

Ah yes... done that too, with both bard and 'chanter. That UV is just so handy, you tend to forget the down side.

                          Another one...

Bard hunting in OT, back when the most popular place to camp was right by that valley to the FM zone. As an agnostic human, I'm not KOS to the dragoons, and I had DE mask up anyway. We were sitting up the wall medding (so I had mana song going) when the general came visiting. The group zoned, I figured since I wasn't KOS, I could stay and let everyone know when it was safe to come back. I forgot that I'd had a song affecting KOS folks running when he came by, and thus picked up some of their agro. He chased them all to the zone, then came back for me.

On a similar note... again a guard that I'm not normally KOS to. I was just a young bardling (high teens or 20's at the time) hanging out with a higher-level guildmate. He was trying to get from 49 to 50 soloing FP guards (before they changed things so the gate guards weren't worth the effort). As a druid with a manastone (remember those?), this wasn't too tough... kite the thing around, hit the stone once or twice, and sit waiting for the next spawn while the stone damage healed naturally. However, since I was bored, I'd group with him between fights and play my healing song to speed things up, and disband before he engaged to avoid taking the faction hits. Unfortunately, we were still grouped when one of them spawned... and he was sitting just close enough to get agro. Fortunately, I was bound somewhere in FP, so I didn't have to far to go to get my body, and I didn't take the faction hit when he killed it.

Two deaths which I will probably never live down.

First was over a year ago, I went with a Cleric doing her final turn in for her epic and somehow managed to accidentally attempt to snare him...I had to stand and die while he smacked me to death and hope like heck that he reset to the proper location. I still get bugged for my itchy trigger finger.

The second taught me a valuable lesson...don't play eq and try and solo when I am half asleep. I have also redone my hot keys since. I was farming Hynids in Natimbi and was at about half heath. I went to heal myself and somehow I missed my alt key and just hit 1 the problem being was that my hotkey 1 is my nuke, alt 1 is my heal...I never said I was a brain child /giggle. I ended up nuking myself to 1% health and the hynid had no problem finishing me off. Hehe bright moves like this are why I am leveling up a cleric on my second account.

You suddenly realize, just as you run right through the middle of the othmir, that you're in wolf form.

Actually mine is, you run right through the middle of the othmir just as you remember that this is the character you are kos to othmir with.

                              Been there done that.

Although, I like reminding a guild cleric who once was on a CH rotation for a vindi kill. Instead of hitting his CH hotkey, he hit his remote DA key.
